00:00It's going to get cold.
00:05You really need the other person for body heat.
00:07I'm going to be sleeping naked next to someone I don't know.
00:10It's really kind of unnerving.
00:12It wasn't until I'm here and it's happening that I'm like,
00:15oh, my gosh, I'm not really comfortable with this.
00:18I love my wife dearly,
00:20and I would never intentionally jeopardize anything
00:23in our relationship.
00:25We need that fire.
00:27I think we got it going.
00:38It's freezing.
00:40I think it's going to be a long night.
00:46Sorry.
00:58Sorry.
01:05We got the fire going,
01:07but it's still cold tonight.
01:11It's a little bit disconcerting for me.
01:14We had to kind of huddle for warmth,
01:16and doing that, I mean, I know it's just for warmth,
01:19but it just still feels kind of wrong.
01:22It's not natural anymore to be that close to anybody,
01:26but my wife...
01:30It's so cold here at night.
01:33Like, it is unbearable.
01:35The fact that Tom has a problem sharing body heat
01:39is absolutely ridiculous.
01:53Last night was really rough.
01:55It was freezing, and the wind was blowing.
01:59I mean, we tried to, like, keep body heat,
02:01but it was awkward,
02:03and listening to him talk about his, like,
02:06how mad his wife would be or some s***,
02:08I'm like, I don't care.
02:09I don't f***ing care.
02:11Like, that's how I feel, so...
02:13I just got out and slept on wood,
02:17which is better.
02:21Over the next three days,
02:22Carrie and Tom fortify their shelter,
02:24collect materials, and hydrate.
02:27But a failure to find food
02:28has led to serious malnourishment.
02:35I want to wait a little bit more and warm up,
02:37and then go for firewood.
02:41All right.
02:45You can make a firewood run, too, if you want.
02:53This f***ing bores me to death.
02:57We have a functioning site.
02:59We have the basics of what we need.
03:02We need to stick with what we know.
03:03Is that how you want to live?
03:05No, but I think that's how we need to live.
03:07We got water.
03:08I don't, I mean, but isn't this more,
03:10about more than just surviving?
03:12No.
03:13This is not about more than just surviving.
03:15Like, honestly, if I have to sit here
03:17and cook water and knit a roof for 21 days,
03:21I will kill myself.
03:22I'm really taken aback by her assessing
03:26of the situation that we're in.
03:28I'm running ragged.
03:30I'm all for being adventuresome.
03:32I'm all for trapping animals.
03:33I just don't have it in me to do it right now.
03:37Roger that.
03:42My plan is to go off on my own,
03:45go adventure a little bit.
03:46I want to find food
03:48and just be by myself for a little bit.
03:50I'm just going to keep walking down the river
03:53because I'm hoping that it leads to salt water
03:57where I can find something like crabs
03:59or I don't know, just anything.
04:01I really can't go that much farther
04:03because I'm freaking getting tired.
04:05I just keep hearing faster water.
04:15I probably have been hiking for like a mile or so
04:19and hoping that this ends to the water.
04:24Oh, yes.
04:27Perfect.
04:28I did not realize how claustrophobic I was
04:31until just now.
04:32And this clearing is amazing.
04:37I think I see some shellfish.
04:41I found a plethora of clams
04:44and I am super excited.
04:46These are going to make a great meal.
04:49Totally worth the trek out here.
04:51I am so pumped.
04:57At least we have a food source.
04:59We want to make this trek.
05:01I did not want to stay at camp
05:03and I took a risk and it paid out.
05:06So I'm super pumped.
05:11Dude, I walked probably like a mile up the river.
05:14Yeah?
05:15Came to the clearing of like the ocean and stuff.
05:18Noticed that there's like hundreds of like clam shells
05:22broken everywhere.
05:23Yeah?
05:24So I dove and found some.
05:26So we're definitely eating clams tonight.
05:28I actually filmed it for you to see too.
05:31So it's a mile each way?
05:32It's probably about a mile.
05:33I'm going to drink some water though.
05:35We should try cooking some.
05:36Yeah.
05:40Yeah, let's start a fire, have some lunch.
05:42Do we have any small tinder?
05:45No, I was preoccupied kind of.
05:48I was anticipating that she was going to bring back tinder.
05:51She had said that that was one of the things
05:53she was going to do on her trek.
05:56All right, I'm going to get then some tinder.
06:00I doubt we have anything left there to start with.
06:03Got fire started there.
06:05Can you make some small sticks?
06:07Best you can with the stuff we got.
06:09Yeah, I need to drink some water first
06:11because I am dying.
06:12How about it?
06:13I think we got two left.
06:16She doesn't necessarily see the value in the items that we have
06:21if they just appear.
06:23I need water in it.
06:25What do you want me to do?
06:27Go get the water?
06:28Yeah.
06:29Huh?
06:30Yes, or have moved so I could set it up.
06:32Go set it up then, dude.
06:36Uh-oh.
06:37Oh, crap.
06:41Oh, crap.
06:52So I kind of feel like we should have a chat.
06:55What's going on?
06:56I feel like you try to make me feel bad
06:59for not wanting to cut bamboo all day.
07:02No, when you left, you said you were going to get firewood
07:05and bring it back.
07:06No, I said I was going to go down to the ocean.
07:08Right, and come back with firewood.
07:10I came back with food.
07:11Right, but we had no way to cook it.
07:13This is what pisses me off.
07:15First of all, there was a lot of firewood, enough here to make fire.
07:19Second of all, I trekked down there.
07:22My feet are torped too.
07:23I came back with clams, and instead of you being like,
07:25oh, cool, you brought food, you're like,
07:28well, now we need tinder to make fire.
07:30That's pretty much what you did,
07:31and then that's immediately why I was pissed off
07:33because I came back.
07:34First thing I said to you was good job.
07:35Well, but I was like, what's happened here?
07:38Nothing has went on here at all.
07:40So for me—
07:41I got the bigger wood.
07:44I made another one of those.
07:46I reinforced the shelter.
07:48Like, I'm trying to see survival skills that are being shown,
07:51and they're nowhere.
07:52They're nowhere to be seen.
07:53And you know what?
07:54For you to tell me that you could have done that,
07:56I will rip that shit down right now,
07:58and you can try to rebuild it yourself and see what it looks like.
08:00Besides freaking chop down bamboo, gather firewood,
08:04what can you do?
08:06It's like affecting me mentally, not physically,
08:09because I know I can be here by myself.
08:11I know I can survive here by myself.
08:15It's okay.
08:16And your point?
08:19If you left tomorrow, I would be fine.
08:23And I would be leaving on the 21st day.
08:27I'm not leaving before the 21st day.
08:28Good.
08:29And I'm glad you're not either.
08:31And I hope that, um, that things change.
08:37So, do you want to go forward as a team,
08:41or do you want to go forward alone?
08:43There's the option, right?
09:02Do you want to try and talk again, or do you want space?
09:05I mean, I'm willing to talk if you want to.
09:07All right.
09:10Whatever. Whatever to make it through this.
09:15Even though we have clashes, underneath that,
09:18I think we're still working well as a team.
09:21Well, I mean, what's the other? I'm not leaving.
09:23For one of us to leave would be putting one of them out dramatically,
09:27so I'm definitely not going anywhere.
09:29Okay. I agree.
09:31So, all right. Well, I say that we should try to get through it.
09:36Even though I disagree with almost everything she said,
09:39you know, it's not about dwelling in the past.
09:42I still firmly believe that we're much better together
09:45than we could be alone.
09:47Time will tell.
09:49So, since arguing with Tom,
09:50I think I'm just going to keep my distance for a little while,
09:53see how things play out.
09:55We don't communicate the same way.
09:57You know, I think my best bet is just to stay away for a little while.
