00:00Well, here today we're at the Greater Birmingham Business Expo from the Greater Birmingham
00:05Chambers of Commerce and it's all about bringing business together. We've got businesses of
00:09literally all shapes and sizes from micro to massive, all sectors from manufacturing
00:13and professional services to charity, healthcare, transport and beyond, all gathered to share
00:18a bit of themselves, what's happening in the region, do business and learn.
00:21Well, in addition to informative stands showcasing various businesses, the day featured expert
00:27led seminars covering topics such as social media, developing young professionals, cyber
00:32security and artificial intelligence. These sessions were designed to equip business professionals
00:38with essential insights and strategies to enhance their operations and also to drive
00:45growth.
00:46It's really important to do activity like this, to forge relationships with clients.
00:50I mean, today a lot seems to be digital, but in practice, a lot of business still gets
00:54done person to person. It's about relationships, finding the right people to cut through the
00:58noise and get noticed. And this is what expos like today can do for local businesses, get
01:04them in front of potential customers, partners, suppliers, and give them a great opportunity
01:08to learn from peers and build their network and business community.
01:11And both visitors and exhibitors at the event would agree, seeing the day as an excellent
01:17opportunity to forge valuable business connections.
01:21So I'm from MIH Solutions and we do strategic communications, which is everything from writing
01:29press releases to photography, video, anything to do with communications and mark on. This
01:34is a great opportunity for us to network, to meet local businesses, to meet some national
01:39businesses and to really get our name out there and to find out what other businesses
01:44and other people are doing in the area.
01:45The Chamber of Commerce is really used for their helping us to network with people, they're
01:50introducing us to new opportunities, new organizations. They're helping us every step
01:55of the way. And that's from meeting people to increasing growth of sales, increasing
02:03our company size. They're just really, really helpful.
02:06Hi, I'm Ashmita and I'm from Aston University and today I'm with the Business Growth West
02:10Midlands team. We're here to promote the decarbonization and the BEES program. It's been very interesting
02:16because we've had such a diverse conversation with different kinds of people. So really
02:20excited. Hopefully they will all turn up and sign up for the program. So I'm really hopeful.
02:25My name's Emma Defro. I'm the Managing Director of Main Tech Recruitment. We recruit both temp
02:30and perm for manufacturers and automated logistics. Yeah, the response has been amazing. So really
02:37good. We've managed to kind of network with other businesses within the area, passing
02:43leads to them and vice versa. So we're new to the commerce this year. So it's been really
02:48supportive. I think as a small business, sometimes it's learning from other businesses and getting
02:54to know kind of how other businesses operate and sharing ideas. That bit's been invaluable
02:58for me.
