00:00Samsung Galaxy A53 in 2023.
00:05In this video, we're going to find out
00:06if after more than one year, this phone is still worth it.
00:11As always, we're going to start
00:12by talking a little bit about the price.
00:14Right now, the A53 is available for about $350 on Amazon,
00:19which obviously, like in every video,
00:21I left a direct link in the description
00:23so you can check it out because it's a lot cheaper,
00:26a lot cheaper than the price you'll find
00:28in the official Samsung store.
00:30Of course, this phone is made out of plastic and plastic
00:33and even more plastic,
00:35just like every other phone in this price range.
00:37But everything said, it does feel very good in your hands
00:40and it has a nice-looking design,
00:42which kind of makes up for all that plastic.
00:45It has the Exynos 1280 processor,
00:47which is a mid-range chipset made by Samsung
00:50for Samsung phones, and that will give you
00:53exactly what you would expect for $350.
00:56To use social media apps, to take pictures
00:59or play some casual games,
01:00this phone will be more than enough.
01:02And you can also play any demanding 3D games you want,
01:05and you will have a good experience
01:07unless you want to play at ultra settings at 120 FPS,
01:11because that kind of performance is exclusive
01:14to the highest-end phones.
01:15In fact, I would say the only difference
01:17that the A53 has with every other high-end phone
01:21is that it doesn't have a lot of leftover power,
01:24meaning the A53 has just about enough
01:27for you to use all the apps and all the games
01:30with a nice experience,
01:31but it doesn't have any leftover extra performance
01:34for the next upcoming year.
01:37So right now, there's not a big difference in performance
01:39with the S22 or the S23, but in two, three, four years,
01:44you will notice that difference
01:45because those other phones have leftover power
01:48and the A53 doesn't.
01:50Of course, it also has a very decent battery life.
01:53I would even say amongst the best I've ever seen
01:55because, as you can see, it lasted a whopping nine hours
01:59of continuous use before turning off,
02:01which is absolutely insane.
02:03And let me clarify something.
02:05This phone has an absolutely insane battery life.
02:08As I said, it's amongst the best I've ever seen,
02:10but that's exactly what I can say
02:13about every other phone in this price range.
02:15Low- to mid-range phones nowadays
02:17have amazing battery lives, all of them.
02:20So even though this phone has, yes,
02:24insane good battery life,
02:26I don't want you to think this is exclusive to this phone.
02:28Every mid-range phone has a very good battery life,
02:32more or less.
02:33Of course, this phone, compared to the other ones,
02:35is a little bit better.
02:36It's on the higher end of mid-range phones
02:38in terms of battery life,
02:39but they all have very good battery lives.
02:41And we move on to the display,
02:43which is probably one of the strongest points on this phone.
02:46It has a 6.5-inch OLED display
02:49with a very well-calibrated panel,
02:51very good colors, 120 FPS, and 800 nits of brightness.
02:56It is a very, very good panel
02:58that's just below what you'll find on a high-end phone,
03:01like the S22, with the only difference
03:04that it only has 800 nits of brightness
03:06instead of 1,200 on the S22, which is noticeable.
03:10It's not huge.
03:12It's something that you'll notice,
03:13but it's not something
03:14that's going to make the phone unusable.
03:16I have a 625-nit brightness phone,
03:19and it's perfect, so 800 is good.
03:21It's just a little less nice in the summer
03:23than a 1,200-nit brightness phone,
03:25but still, for a mid-range phone,
03:27all these specs are absolutely insane.
03:29And of course, it's time to talk
03:31about the most important components on this phone,
03:33the cameras, because of course,
03:35like in every modern phone, there's multiple cameras.
03:38We have a 64-megapixel main sensor,
03:40which is the one that I'm using
03:41to record this video right now with 4K, 30 FPS,
03:44and it's very good, as you can see in video,
03:47in dynamic range detail, it's a pretty good camera.
03:50We also have a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera,
03:53and of course, like in every Samsung phone,
03:56we have, let's just call it marketing cameras.
03:59We have a periscope camera, and we have a depth camera,
04:02which are horrible.
04:03They have horrible quality.
04:05You're never going to use them.
04:06They give no additional focal length
04:10or anything you're going to use,
04:11so in practical terms, they are only there
04:13to improve the quality of the other two main cameras.
04:17But anyways, let's move on to the most important part
04:19of the camera section, which is the photos.
04:21As always, I'm going to show you a bunch of photos
04:24from the main sensor, the ultrawide sensor,
04:26with some nice background music,
04:27zooming in so you can see the details,
04:29and then I'll come back to talk about the selfies.
06:32Okay, what did you think?
06:33Very impressive results, in my personal opinion.
06:35I think the main camera is surprisingly good.
06:38It's almost as good as a Samsung Galaxy S22 or S23.
06:42Very, very good.
06:42Pro tip for everybody that's going to buy this phone,
06:45don't take the pictures with the 64-megapixel mode,
06:48because in that mode, the megapixels are so small,
06:51the light doesn't really get in properly,
06:53and there's not a lot of detail.
06:54So, if you're going to take the pictures,
06:55don't take the pictures with the 64-megapixel mode,
06:58because in that mode, the megapixels are so small,
07:01and there's not a lot of detail,
07:02unless you're in perfect lighting conditions.
07:04So, normally, in the photos you've seen before,
07:07are all taken with the quad-pixel mode,
07:11which is basically a mode that combines pixels four by four,
07:14so there's bigger pixels, and they let in more light,
07:18and there's more detail.
07:19So, it's, in practical terms, 18-megapixel photos.
07:21A lot of people don't know this,
07:23but if you just want to click the button
07:24and take the picture, less megapixels.
07:27A lot of times, it's better because the pixels are bigger,
07:29and they let in more light,
07:31and they more easily allow you to take a good picture.
07:34So, that's my advice.
07:36So, yeah, adding up all these points,
07:38I think the A53 is absolutely worth it for the money.
07:42There's other phones, of course,
07:43and depending on your needs,
07:44you may or may not find those other phones better,
07:47but if you like what this phone offers,
07:49if you like the strengths on this phone,
07:51and you think this is the one for you,
07:53trust me on this one, you're not going to be disappointed.
07:56For the price it has, and for what it offers,
07:58it's a very good deal.
07:59So, I'm going to say it one more time.
08:02Yes, I'm sorry, one more time.
08:03It has a very good price on Amazon.
08:05You have a direct link in the description.
