00:05In this video, I'm going to compare them in every single way possible to find out which
00:11one of them is the better phone, and therefore, which one you should buy.
00:15As always, we're going to start by talking about the exterior design, a section that
00:19is clearly very subjective, it is a matter of personal taste, but there are a couple
00:24things that I can say about each of these two phones' designs.
00:28As you can see, the A53 is slightly older-looking, it has the old design from the old Samsung
00:35phones like the S20 or the S21, and the A54 has a more simplified, minimalistic look that's
00:42very similar to the newer, top-tier Samsung phones that just came out.
00:47And even more interesting, the A54, for the first time in this lineup of A-phones, has
00:53a glass back instead of a plastic back, which makes it feel 100,000 times better when you
01:00have it in your hands.
01:01It feels a lot more premium, a lot more higher-end, it feels like it's better built.
01:06And of course, this is something we don't get on the A53, which is entirely built out
01:11of plastic, both on the sides and on the back.
01:14But anyways, let's move on to the processor.
01:16The Galaxy A53 comes with the Exynos 1280, a mid-range processor that will give you everything
01:22you need for a very pleasant phone-using experience, including the most demanding games.
01:28And the A54 comes with the Exynos 1380 processor, which is exactly the same mid-range processor
01:36as on the A53, but a little bit faster and a little bit more efficient because it's a
01:41newer generation.
01:42Right now, in 2023, they both are practically identical.
01:47If you compare them side-by-side, you won't see any differences, or you won't at least
01:50notice those differences.
01:52But because the A54 is a little bit more powerful and a little bit more optimized,
01:57in one, two, three years when apps become more demanding and games become more demanding,
02:03you will start noticing those differences because the A54 will have enough power to
02:09sustain those activities, and maybe the A53 won't.
02:12And that's when you'll start seeing the A54 win over the A53 in a couple years.
02:18And we move on to the battery, a very interesting point where I have very good things to say.
02:24But first, even more interesting than the battery life, I have to tell you that both
02:28of these phones, the A53 and the A54, have very good prices right now on Amazon.

02:46But anyways, let's go back to the battery.
02:48They both will give you a beastly performance, easily exceeding 10 hours of total use, and
02:54well, although it is barely noticeable because the two phones are very similar, the A54 has
03:00a little bit better battery, around 5% more to be precise.
03:04But one of the best components on these two phones is definitely the display.
03:08Although, well, there aren't many differences between them either.
03:12They both have 120Hz OLED screens, they both have very good colors, and the only small
03:18differences are that the A54 is a little bit smaller at 6.4 inches instead of 6.5,
03:24but it's also a little bit brighter with 1,000 nits instead of 800 on the A53.
03:30In practical terms, you won't notice either of these differences, 0.1 extra inches is
03:35not noticeable for the average person, even if you have them side by side, and the difference
03:40between 800 and 1,000 nits of brightness is also very, very small, although I would appreciate
03:46it because sometimes if you're directly facing the sun, any extra brightness is appreciated,
03:52and maybe the difference between not being able to read what's on the phone and barely
03:57being able to read, which is something, you know?
04:00So even though it's very little, I would appreciate that extra brightness on the A54.
04:04And finally, we move on to the most important part of this comparison, the cameras.
04:09As you can see, I'm recording at 4K 30fps with both phones' main cameras, no, this is
04:15not the selfie camera, this is the main one.

04:19The A53 has two cameras, a 64-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide, and the
04:25A54 has, very similar, a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide.

04:38You're never gonna use those cameras, so I'm not even gonna talk about them because in
04:41practical terms, they're horrible quality, they're only there to improve the quality
04:45of the other two cameras, so I don't think they're worth mentioning.
04:48But anyways, that being said, let's move on to the important part of the video, the photos.

07:12Okay, what did you think? Very similar results. I actually, as I said earlier, I didn't really
07:16notice any differences in the ultrawide camera. I am not noticing any differences in the selfie
07:21camera. The only difference that I've seen in my computer is that the A54 has a better
07:27main sensor. It's a little bit bigger, it lets in more light, there's more detail,
07:30there's a little bit more depth of field, bokeh effect, but in every other aspect,
07:35they're both pretty much identical. And probably you watching this video have not noticed any
07:40differences in the main camera either because as I said, they're so, so small. And well,
07:44as I said, selfie cameras are also identical. I've not noticed any differences. They have the same
07:48sensors. So yeah, the A54 has a better camera unit because it has a better main sensor,
07:54but the differences are not huge and they're only visible on the main sensor.
08:00So yeah, summarizing the A54 is a better phone. It has a better design, a better processor,
08:07a better battery life, and a better display and a better main camera. But it's also fair to say
08:13that it is a hundred bucks more expensive. So they kind of even themselves out. I don't really
08:18know which one is best for you because I think it all depends on your budget. If you don't have
08:23enough money to buy the A54, the A53 is an amazing option. But if you do have money for the A54,
08:28as you've seen, it is better in every single category. So I would recommend you get the A54.
