00:00Samsung Galaxy S21 in 2023.
00:05In this video, we're going to find out
00:07if after two and a half years,
00:10this phone is still worth it.
00:12As always, we're going to start
00:13by talking a little bit about the price.
00:15Right now, the S21 is available completely new
00:19for about 500 bucks on Amazon.
00:22Of course, like in every video,
00:23you have a link in the description directly to Amazon
00:26to specifically the best price I found on Amazon.
00:30But hey, let's move on to the design category,
00:33which as you can see,
00:34is one of the strong points on this phone
00:37and well on pretty much all Galaxy S phones.
00:40It's made out of glass and aluminum
00:42with simple but elegant lines
00:44and an unbeatable feeling in your hand.
00:46If you've ever tried one of the latest Galaxy S phones,
00:49you know what I'm talking about.
00:51They're very aesthetic, they have very good materials
00:54and above all else, they are very, very ergonomic.
00:58As for the processor, we have a Snapdragon 888,
01:01which was the best processor you could put
01:04on an Android phone two years ago
01:06and therefore, of course, it is an absolute killing machine
01:10whatever you throw at it.
01:12Every application works super well, stable and fast.
01:16The system moves fluidly and without any irregularities
01:19or performance failures
01:21and you can play all the games you want
01:23no matter how demanding they are,
01:25you won't have any performance issues.
01:27We're talking about an almost identical user experience
01:31to what you can get with a Galaxy S22
01:34with the only difference being that the S22,
01:36of course, being a newer phone,
01:38has a little bit more power to spare
01:41but that's only going to be noticeable in a couple of years.
01:43Right now in 2023, both of these phones
01:46work absolutely identical.
01:48You're not going to notice any differences.
01:50But anyways, that being said,
01:51let's move on to another very good feature
01:55and quite acclaimed on the S21,
01:58which is the battery life.
02:00But before we talk about the battery life,
02:02I have to tell you again,
02:03because it's important that you have a discount link
02:06in the description for the S21,
02:08the best price on the internet.
02:10So if you're interested in buying it,
02:12at least check it out at the end of the video.
02:15Because we have to keep talking about the battery,
02:17which as I said, is a very good component on this phone.
02:20As you can see, it is not as good as the one on the S22,
02:24but don't let that fool you.
02:26It is still an amazing battery
02:28and unless you're addicted to your phone,
02:30you will very comfortably get till the end of the day.
02:33More specifically, it will give you around eight hours
02:36of screen-on time under normal conditions.
02:39And we move on to the screen.
02:41Surprise, another very good component on the S21.
02:45It has an OLED panel with 120 hertz,
02:481200 nits of brightness,
02:50and obviously the most high-end panel available
02:53at the time it came out,
02:54which are specs that are well ahead of their time.
02:57Remember, this phone came out in 2021.
03:00And at that time, not every phone had 120 hertz
03:04and over a thousand nits of brightness.
03:06By the way, let me emphasize again
03:09on the panel quality of this phone.
03:11A lot of people, when they want a good display
03:14on their phones, they look for resolution,
03:15they look for brightness, they look for refresh rate,
03:19which sure are important factors to a display,
03:21but the most important piece of technology
03:25that's put into a display and that affects its quality
03:28is the panel.
03:29If you have a bad panel,
03:31doesn't matter if it's high refresh rate, very bright,
03:34OLED, any name you want to throw at it,
03:37it's going to look bad.
03:38That's why there's $300 Xiaomi's
03:41with technically on paper,
03:42the same specs as $1,000 Samsung phones or $1,000 iPhones.
03:47It's because sure, on paper, they have the same specs,
03:50the same numbers, but the panel quality on the Xiaomi
03:53is way worse than the panel quality on the Samsung phone.
03:56That's a thousand bucks.
03:58And finally, it is time to talk about
04:00the most important component on these phone, the cameras.
04:04As you can see, we have three lenses on the back,
04:06a 12 megapixel main, a 64 megapixel zoom lens,
04:10and a 12 megapixel ultra wide.
04:13And they are all very, very good.
04:15This is actually the first year
04:17where Samsung heavily increased the size of the sensors
04:21in the cameras to, you know, let in more light
04:24for the colors to look more real
04:26and for there to be a little bit more depth of field,
04:29which is something you could also see on Apple's camp
04:31with the iPhone 13s.
04:32And it really makes a big difference
04:35in the way videos and photos look.
04:37And it really makes a very big difference
04:39in the way pictures and videos look.
04:41The bigger the sensor, the more light gets in
04:44and the more information you can capture.
04:46So everything looks better.
04:48It doesn't look like a phone video.
04:50It looks more like a, say under a thousand dollar
04:53video camera, DSLR camera almost.
04:55But anyways, I know what you really care about here
04:58are the photos.
04:59So I'm going to show you a bunch of photos
05:01from the three cameras, zooming in
05:02so you can see the small details on each one of the cameras.
05:05And then I'll come back to give you my conclusions
05:07and talk about the other camera, the selfie camera.
05:10Let's go.
05:11Let's go.
05:41Let's go.
06:11Let's go.
06:41Let's go.
06:51Okay, so those were all the main cameras on these phone.
06:54I've seen very, very big improvements,
06:56especially on the main camera, as opposed to last year.
06:59As I said, because of the sensor size,
07:01the bigger the sensor, everything is better.
07:03That's why cinema cameras are so big
07:06because you need a very big sensor
07:07to capture a lot of light and a lot of detail.
07:09It makes everything better.
07:11You can capture a more dynamic range too.
07:13And that doesn't really apply to the selfie camera though.
07:16I think it's pretty much identical,
07:18which is not a bad thing
07:19because the S20 had a very good selfie camera,
07:21but all the big changes on the rear cameras
07:24are enough to make it a worth upgrade over the S20,
07:27even though the selfie camera is,
07:29I would say almost identical.
07:32So yeah, adding up all of these components,
07:34the amazing processor, the very good battery life,
07:37the very good panel quality, the very good camera system.
07:41I think that if you're looking to get a phone
07:44that is around the $500 price range,
07:47this is one of the best options, if not the best.
07:50If you're looking for an Android phone specifically,
07:53I would say this is the best option available right now
07:56for 500.
07:57So yeah, I recommend it.
07:59I very highly recommend it.
08:01And let me remind you one more time
08:04that you have a discount link in the description to Amazon.
08:07Very good price right now.
