00:00What was he doing on these calls, and why so many of them?
00:04It's fair to ask, of course, if it's true.
00:06I don't know if it's true.
00:07I know it's his reporting.
00:08It's the same thing with John Kerry
00:10when he was meeting with the Iranian officials
00:12after he was out of office.
00:14It's fair to ask.
00:15We know what's he talking about, and I guess
00:17it's fair to ask for sure.
00:18Yeah, I mean, I should note that Trump called that illegal
00:22when Kerry did it.
00:23He said it was a police call.
00:25OK, and obviously the Trump campaign
00:27has put out a statement that it was false.
00:28So I'm not sure if it's true or not.
00:31But I will say that Mrs. Harris was sent over to stop the war,
00:35and shortly after there, Putin invaded,
00:37as he did under Obama and Biden.
00:38So it's my opinion that the next president, and hopefully
00:42it will be Donald Trump, has the ability to speak to Putin.
00:45And I know that's a dirty word in a lot of circles,
00:47which is sort of ridiculous, because you
00:49need to be speaking to your enemy, of course.
00:52And I think that Donald Trump, as opposed to Harris,
00:54has the ability to potentially stop World War III.
00:57And that's what I'm betting on.
00:57Well, first of all, she was over there
00:59to warn Zelensky about the upcoming invasion.
01:02So that's oddly inaccurate.
01:04It's not oddly inaccurate.
01:05That's absolutely not true.
01:06No, she was over there to talk.
01:08She was over there for a show of force
01:11to deter Putin from invading.
01:12That's why she was there.
01:13Because people didn't believe that they were going to invade,
01:15and they had intelligence, including in the Woodward book,
01:18about this.
01:19The second thing is, he's a private citizen.
01:21He shouldn't be talking to Vladimir Putin.
01:23That's just really pretty much basic stuff.
01:25He also shouldn't be meeting with other world leaders.
01:28He's not been.
01:29We have a government.
01:30That happens all the time, by the way.
01:31I understand that.
01:32But this is a unique situation.
01:33I think also, like, an adversary.
01:34Does Obama meet with world leaders?
01:35All the time.
01:36But not in the same fashion.
01:37He's got an adversary.
01:39That's the question here is, an adversary like,
01:42I'm asking you, an adversary like Vladimir Putin,
01:45does that not change the calculus here?
01:47Yeah, I don't love the optics of him talking to Putin,
01:50just to be honest.
01:51And by the way, in the middle of a war.
01:52There's like a war going on.
01:54But it's not surprising to me that a former US
01:56president, Republican or Democrat,
01:58would have conversations with world leaders
02:01that they had some relationship with.
02:03I know the book also sort of made a big deal out of this
02:06idea that he sent these COVID tests or whatever to Putin.
02:09But I've been wondering, yeah, the machines.
02:11I've been wondering, though, today,
02:13what is more concerning, these conversations
02:16and these COVID machines, or the fact
02:19that we've been sending billions to the Iranians who are now
02:22funding terrorism and attacking our biggest ally.
02:25And Kamala Harris goes on TV and says,
02:27this is our biggest geopolitical foe, which it's not.
02:30But the relationship between Biden and Obama and Harris
02:35and the Iranians, to me, is far more troubling than this Putin
02:38issue.
02:39You're talking about the Iran nuclear deal.
02:41And you're talking about the unfreezing of Iranian assets.
02:44That's not the same thing as Obama sending billions
02:47of dollars to Iran.
02:49But Congressman, I'm curious what you think about all this.
02:51I mean, obviously, I don't think
02:52you should have been talking to him seven times.
02:54But the bigger issue is, what does he
02:55want to do going forward?
02:57Because he keeps saying he wants to end the war.
02:59Well, what does that mean?
03:00Does he mean, OK, we're going to give away a fifth of Ukraine?
03:03Because that's what Putin wants.
03:05And then if he does that and he ends the war on those terms,
03:08then are we going to say, OK, China, if you invade Taiwan,
03:11I'll tell you what, you can have a fifth of Taiwan
03:13and we'll end the war?
03:14He's never answered the question,
03:16end the war on what terms?
03:18And if someone, if he has a solution,
03:21then share it with us.
03:22Yeah, I think that that's such an important point.
03:24Because, I mean, look, the retrospective part of this
03:27is interesting.
03:28But it is a question of, Trump has been saying for months
03:32that he has some special relationship with Putin,
03:34that he would release the political prisoners,
03:37that he would be able to solve this war in 24 hours.
03:39Let me just play a little bit about what
03:41Trump has been saying about his relationship
03:43with Putin of late.
03:46I know Putin very well.
03:47I have a good relationship.
03:48And they respect your president, OK?
03:51They respect me.
03:52They don't respect Biden.
03:53I got to know President Xi of China and Putin of Russia.
03:58Got to know a lot of the leaders.
04:00They're tough cookies and smart.
04:02We have a very good relationship.
04:04And I also have a very good relationship, as you know,
04:07with President Putin.
04:08I hope we have more good relations.
04:11We're going to have.
04:11Oh, I see.
04:12Yeah, but, you know, it takes two to tango.
04:16I think the thing that is, it's just incredible.
04:19What is he going to do?
04:20What is the actual plan?
04:21Can I say something about Americans?
04:23I'll be brief here.
04:24The only thing I'll say is that I
04:25think the reason why former presidents talking
04:28to international and foreign leaders
04:31might happen all the time.
04:33The difference here is Donald Trump
04:35is running to be the president again.
04:37And so what conversations is he having after he got out
04:40of office making deals that might be undermining
04:43our current government?
04:44That is the thing that makes me, that hasn't really
04:46been brought up in this conversation,
04:48that makes me very concerned.
04:49And I think deserves a bit more scrutiny than an Obama,
04:56than a Bush having a conversation
04:58with another foreign leader.
04:59So I think it is, I think Roe is correct here.
05:01Or not correct, excuse me.
05:02I think he has a great point when he's like,
05:04what's the plan, right?
05:05But it's important to say, if you're negotiating something,
05:08or if you're going to, let's say he becomes a president
05:10and he has to negotiate the end, or peace, or something
05:13like that, you're not just going to throw your plan out there.
05:15That is kind of ridiculous that you would say.
05:17But he owes the American people more details
05:20other than saying, I'm just going to snap my fingers
05:22and it'll be solved.
05:23That is not how, I don't think that passes
05:26any kind of leadership for any person, really.
05:29I understand that we want to hear more.
05:31I understand Zelensky wants to hear more.
05:33But here's the reality, and Putin's the devil.
05:35People have been saying that for months.
05:37If you even said his name, it was bad.
05:38You can't talk to him.
05:40But the reality is, more likely than not,
05:43unless we're in nuclear war, there
05:44will be a political negotiated peace settlement.
05:48And how that goes down, what it looks like, what the plan is,
05:53you can't say it right now, because you just don't know.
05:55It's unrealistic to say, what's your plan for the peace
05:57settlement right now?
05:59Put all your cards on the table right now.
06:00It's just unrealistic.
06:01Except you'd want that specificity from Kamala Harris.
06:03And here's the thing.
06:04I don't, I don't either.
06:05Let me just say this.
06:06I don't want that.
06:08Let me just say, I am a lesbian from San Francisco,
06:11and happy International Lesbian Day today.
06:13Happy International Lesbian Day.
06:14I have to tell you, you may not realize this,
06:16but Russia is our enemy.
06:17They really, truly are.
06:18And you can talk to them.
06:19They are.
06:20They absolutely are.
06:21They do all kinds of things.
06:23I didn't say you didn't have to speak to them.
06:25But you have to understand, it is a, they are our adversary.
06:28They're our absolute adversary.
06:30I can't believe I'm more conservative than you on this.
06:32So is China.
06:33You aren't more conservative than me.
06:34I'm not someone who just had to put a Ukraine
06:36flag in my front yard.
06:38Because the reality is, for the last few years, as Ro knows,
06:42I've been helping out substantially
06:44in that conflict.
06:45So trust me when I say to you, I'm more conservative than you.
06:49I want to end that.
06:50But the reality is, it will be a political solution.
06:52Of course.
06:53That's what's going to happen.
06:53I think you're both making correct points.
06:56I agree with you.
06:56They are the enemy.
06:57And I agree with you.
06:58We do have to talk to them.
07:00I think the point Trump has continuously made
07:03is, I will command more respect from all parties involved
07:06than Harris or that Biden has.
