00:00But this is the one, this is the one that I think I'm taking to heart.
00:04Greg Cosell from yesterday.
00:07Well they're missing the best back in the league, and as much as we all like Mason,
00:11and he's done a phenomenal job, he doesn't give you the same thing that McCaffrey does,
00:16and that kind of back just changes everything about a team.
00:20So that's a big, big loss.
00:22So yes, they're not the same there.
00:24Essentially, the offensive line is exactly the same with the exception of Poonie, who
00:29won the job at right guard.
00:31So offensively, it's the same people.
00:33Defensively, they've had some changes because they lost some people, but they've also replaced
00:38some people.
00:39Hufanga, who actually made a really poor play on the Murray 50-yard touchdown, he got hurt,
00:45obviously, and they're now playing the rookie, and when you play a rookie whose strength
00:51is probably playing downhill, but played predominantly on the back end because Brown is better when
00:57he plays closer to the line of scrimmage, now that's something they have to work through.
01:02So yeah, there are always some changes to be made in a given season, absolutely.
01:07But they didn't go from being a really good team a year ago, getting into the Super Bowl,
01:12almost winning, to suddenly a team that's no good.
01:15There it is.
01:17No I love that, and help me, Stony Evan, I need your help too, because again, it's about
01:24I do wonder in that instance, and that soundbite is, well, if I can just allow, I would say
01:29Greg, if we just talk about Brock Purdy then, so the great Brock Purdy shows up when McCaffrey's
01:36on the field, because I thought we were looking at something that even if he didn't have McCaffrey,
01:42you know, and I've said he's facing stardom in the face, Brock Purdy that is.
01:46Super stardom.
01:47Yeah, I did say that.
01:48So I would just ask him about that component, you know what I mean?
01:51Obviously you can assume McCaffrey's going nowhere, he'll be here the next few years,
01:55but Stony, I mean, right now the implications are, if you look at the numbers for Brock
02:00last year, touchdown to the interception ratio, it's 6-6 right now.
02:05And if Greg and the others can say, oh, that's only because, Stony, if that's only because
02:12of McCaffrey, then that's almost like, well, that's a good pass then, right?
02:18That's the reason.
02:19Like, don't judge Brock because McCaffrey's not out there?
02:23Nobody's saying that.
02:24I don't think you can say that, because football has injuries and you gotta deal with them.
02:30But you know, it does, I do think it's interesting the way, it feels like because Purdy didn't
02:35play well last week, now we're saying, well, he's been okay.
02:396-4, I said 6-6, not 6-4.
02:41Yeah, 6-6, you know who's got six touchdown passes and six interceptions?
02:45You know who's got that?
02:46Gino.
02:47No.
02:48Who would you think wouldn't have that kind of...
02:50Oh, Mahomes.
02:51Mahomes.
02:52Patrick Mahomes, six touchdowns and six picks.
02:56Undefeated.
02:57Yeah.
02:588-8-8, 9-5-7, 9-5-7-0.
03:01Do you agree with Greg Cosell?
03:02It's foolish to think that the 49ers went from a good team to a bad team this quickly.
03:07Yeah, he didn't talk about the D, or we didn't hear it in that sound bite.
03:11He talked about everything.
03:12Because that's the other half of this enchilada.
03:15And I know people might say, well, where did this Stiney come from?
03:19But I just am looking at the San Francisco 49ers, and I get their 2-3, but I see two
03:26losses there that I'm putting into the outlier category.
03:31They didn't make a play when they needed to.
03:33Who was that?
03:34The Rams and...
03:35The Rams and the Cardinals.
03:36All right.
03:37I think they deserved to lose to the Vikings, but they gave away...
03:42They've got to feel like they gave away two games.
03:47And if they feel like that, and they come out tonight and win, I think you put at least
03:52one of those two losses behind them.
03:55J-1 is in San Francisco.
03:58What's up, J-1?
03:59How you doing, man?
04:00Hey, good morning, guys.
04:01Thank you for talking to me.
04:02Sure.
04:03Game day.
04:04Yeah.
04:05Yeah.
04:06Well, I just want to add on, we just need to motivate our team.
04:11We got all we need.
04:13We don't need nobody here.
04:15We as a team, we can run it.
04:17It don't matter who it is we're facing.
04:20We got this.
04:21We got it on the street.
04:22And the Faithfuls are here.
04:23We just got to motivate them.
04:25Thanks for the call.
04:26Appreciate it, Jay.
04:27Well, I love J-1's, Donnie, but we heard the soundbite from Fred Warner saying he shouldn't
04:32have to give speeches, motivational speeches, at this point.
04:35You know what time it is.
04:36They're 2-3.
04:38So I'm just bringing that up because Jay mentioned motivation, but the best player on the defensive
04:42side of the ball, playing like it, said, you know what, Donnie?
04:47To hell with some speeches and words.
04:48We got to go out there and play.
04:50We got to go out there and hit and be vicious.
04:54You want to hear about what Cosell said about the red zone issues?
04:57I would love to.
04:58The red zone, because this is something we've been harping on.
05:02This is where McCaffrey certainly is a factor, because normally when these things happen,
05:06there's not just one reason, as you guys know.
05:09I would say it resulted from an inability to run the ball in the low red zone, meaning
05:1310 yards and in.
05:14There were snaps in which there was less than stout pass protection at times.
05:18A purdy at times I thought broke down in the pocket a little too soon, and I thought there
05:23were examples where there was strong coverage by the cards, and he didn't have the timing
05:27and rhythm throw that he anticipated having.
05:29So there was one play in particular that came with 16 seconds remaining in the first half
05:34and Kittle broke wide open on a stick nod, but Purdy felt inside pressure.
05:39We can debate whether there was truly pressure, only he could tell you what he felt.
05:43I wasn't sure there was truly pressure, and normally he stands there and delivers, but
05:48that would have been an easy touchdown because Kittle broke wide open.
05:51So there's multiple reasons, but this week was very problematic in the red zone, and
05:56that was a big factor in why they lost.
05:58So I've never heard the term low red zone.
06:01It's the low red zone.
06:02Wow!
06:03Clearly that's the 10 and in.
06:04The low red zone.
06:05The low red zone!
06:08And I can't truly tell you what he felt, but yeah, that was a throw I'm sure Purdy wanted
06:13to have back.
06:14That would have got him in the end zone.
06:15Kittle caught it, but his momentum took him out of bounds, but I'm looking for a bounce
06:19back game just from Purdy in regard to his accuracy too, Stony, because that wasn't,
06:24like you said, to lead the show.
06:25That wasn't a normal Brock Purdy.
06:27Just from the jump, the first pass to Debo was an incompletion and Debo was open.
06:32Hey, I just remembered.
06:36There was a play in Sunday's game that we didn't talk about, but oh my gosh, was it
06:42almost a monster mistake.
06:47A play?
06:48We talked about Kittle getting pancaked out of the interception.
06:51We did not talk about this play that I can remember.
06:55And I want to know what made you remember it.
06:57It was Greg Koseljar in my memory when he was talking about the red zone, etc.
07:03I got to get this.
07:04I got to make sure this is right.
07:06First half or second half?
07:07First half.
07:08Spadone, are you listening?
07:09No.
07:10No?
07:11Shoot.
07:12I just wanted to bring some other people in to see if they caught it too.
07:17Well, I'm here.
07:18Yeah, I know.
07:19Let me get it.
07:20Here we go.
07:21You ready?
07:22Here it is.
07:23This was almost unbelievable.
07:2549ers have third and seven at the seven.
07:31They run a play, Purdy throws to Jennings, and the clock stopped at one second.
07:41One second.
07:44That play easily could have ended up being the last play of the first half, and they
07:50don't even get a field goal there going into halftime.
07:52He cut that so close, and even Brady was like, oh my god, dude, what a break.
07:59Well, let's say it, Stoney.
08:00They got lucky on that, because that ain't how it was designed.
08:03Could you imagine?
08:04I don't know if you get that extra second on the road.
08:07Wow.
08:08On the road.
08:10That would have been a calamity in terms of clock management and blowing it.
08:158-8-8, 9-5-7, 9-5-7-0 is the number.
08:20Good recollection on that.
08:21Benefit of the doubt.
08:23Are you giving it to the Niners or not?
08:25And if you're not, why?
08:27I think it's easy if you give them the benefit of the doubt.
08:30Why?
08:31One reason I do is because they've been pretty good the last few years, and I'm on board
08:36with Cosell.
08:37I don't think they got this bad this fast.
08:39But what if those guys he's talking about, mainly McCaffrey, let's just, Stoney, what
08:43if he doesn't come back and this is what it is?
08:45I still think they'll win ten games.
08:47Do you think they won't?
08:49Wow.
08:51I think they'll still win ten games no matter when or if McCaffrey comes back.
08:55Wow, now you're really going all in because I hear Greg, but he's talking from the premise
09:01of McCaffrey's going to come back and the ailments will be rectified, but if he doesn't
09:05for some reason, then where are we at in the confidence level?
09:10That's all.
09:11We still should be a playoff team.
09:12That's the way I feel.
09:13If I'm a 49er fan.
09:14And you know what, Stoney?
09:15I still feel like to that point, they should be better in the red zone even without McCaffrey.
09:20And maybe they will be.
09:22They go three for three tonight, all of a sudden they're back up in the middle and nobody's
09:25talking about it.
09:268-8-8, 9-5-7, 9-5-7-0.
09:30Are you giving the Niners the benefit of the doubt?
09:32They've started slow before.
09:33They've rallied before.
09:34They've made deep runs from this position before.
09:38If you are, I've got to believe that the track record's important.
09:41It is for me.
09:42But if you don't, what are you seeing that leads you to believe these things aren't going
09:47to be as correctable as we think?
09:498-8-8, 9-5-7, 9-5-7-0.
09:52Coming up in 10 minutes, Warren Moon, former quarterback for the Seahawks, former quarterback
09:57for the Oilers.
09:59And he will join us at about 10-30 at 1 o'clock.
10:04Know your foe.
10:05Yeah, this is great.
10:06Know your foe.
10:07Seattle.
10:08We'll be seeing how much we know about Seattle, and I think you can throw the Pacific Northwest
10:12in there.
10:14They're the only team up there in the Pacific Northwest, so we could do that.
10:17But let's go to Wallace.
10:20Wallace is in Sacramento.
10:21Hey, Wallace, what's going on, man?
10:22How you doing?
10:23Yo, yo.
10:24What's good, man?
10:25Hey, man.
10:26Man, I love you guys' show, by the way, man.
10:28Just much pride, man, of this show.
10:31I just want to know, as a matter of fact, I want to do a heat check.
10:35All right.
10:36You know, so you know when you've got a, like, if you have a good quarterback, they kind
10:42of, like, overcome a lot of the deficiencies you have in your offense.
10:48Do you feel like we have that in Bronx?
10:52You mean somebody who can win you games when you don't play well?
10:57What if I told you I don't know?
10:58I'm still undecided.
10:59Okay.
11:00Okay.
11:01What do you think?
11:02That's kind of where I'm at right now.
11:03I'm just trying to figure that part out.
11:05Like, I'm like, can he overcome the things that we don't have right now and get that
11:10part done?
11:11You know?
11:12Like, that's the only thing.
11:13But I'll tell you one thing.
11:14The only reason I look forward to Sundays at this point is just Fred Warner and Brock
11:19Criddy.
11:20You know?
11:21Yeah.
11:22I hear you.
11:23I hear you.
11:24And Bosa should be in that, mentioned in that, but he's got to step it up.
11:29Yeah.
11:30I just, when I, and that's...
11:31You too.
11:32I'll be honest.
11:33That's what I'm basing a lot of my conviction on.
11:39And I know we'll go back and forth a million times because there are plays you have to
11:45make to win games and they haven't made plays when they've needed to.
11:49I think they will.
11:50I think the next time that a play happens, somebody's going to catch that ball Ronnie
11:54Bell dropped.
11:56I think Brock Purdy does have a game-winning drive in him if the team's down.
12:02But I think the defense has a stop in them when they most need it.
12:08But again, they haven't done it up to this point, but I'm going to, I choose to believe
12:12that they're going to start making more winning plays and the wins will follow.
12:17Yeah.
12:18I was listening to the guys this morning, Stani, they used our bit about calling the
12:22who you call it out, who is it on, and the fans went crazy.
12:26And so did Butch and Bonte.
12:28Like Stani, there was a litany of names, like, you know, like, you're right.
12:34And I'm being proactive here.
12:37Let's just say they win tonight, Stani.
12:39You're three and three and even then, I can understand the diehard of diehard 49er fans
12:44still feeling like, you know what guys, that still ain't good enough.
12:47Well, it's not, but they'll be in first place.
12:49Assuming the Cardinals lose and the Rams lose and they don't have a tiebreaker with those
12:58two teams.
12:59But your boys, your boys, your boys are still optimistic, yes.
13:05And you're usually not.
13:08You're talking about?
13:09You're usually negative.
13:10I'm realistic, practical, and pragmatic.
13:14I'm not a dreamer.
13:15You're right about that.
13:16And pessimistic.
13:17No, realistic.
13:18Stani, you're Dr. Pessimistic.
13:20Realistic.
