00:00The Commission on Elections released the initial list of candidates for the 2025 midterm elections a month ago.

00:10According to Kamalek Spokesperson John Rex Laurianco, these candidates can be seen on the website of PollBuddy.

00:16But according to the official, not all of these candidates will be allowed to run,

00:22especially since they are expecting a number of petitions, including the petition to cancel COC and petition to declare nuisance candidates.

00:32Laurianco added that the number of candidates who received COC will drop to 43,000.

00:43Before the end of October, around October 29,

00:47Kamalek will release on our website the initial list of candidates who filed for COC.

00:55But this does not mean that if your name is there, you will be the last candidate to run.

01:03Let's remember, this month of October, we will receive different types of cases,

01:09such as the petition to cancel or deny due course for COCs who question their qualifications,

01:15such as age, being a Filipino citizen, residency, literacy requirement, and being a registered voter.

01:22Here, we also expect that the ones who question the disqualifications will file a case,

01:28such as a court that has a perpetual disqualification,

01:32or those who will violate the laws and regulations that may cause a disqualification.

01:38We also expect that within five days, the Kamalek Law Department will file a petition to declare a nuisance candidate.

01:47For those candidates whom we saw that they do not know their position,

01:52they do not have a true or bona fide intention to run for the election.

01:57They will just cause trouble in the election.

01:59They will put into mockery the election process and above all,

02:02they will put into mockery the candidates who have bad intentions,

02:04confuse the voters, and steal votes from the black candidates.
