00:00Inside the 3rd edition of Green Logistics Expo, in program at the Padova Fair,
00:11the meeting was held on the technology at the service of sustainability and safety,
00:17organized by CAV, granted in Venetian highways.
00:20So, from this meeting emerged that we are, in general, I speak of the whole compartment,
00:30sufficiently advanced in terms of both studies and experimentation.
00:39We have seen, in fact, that the data on the 4th dynamic lane completely converge
00:50both those that Professor Cascetta mentioned in his 3 km of experimentation
00:57and those that we have mentioned in the studies carried out.
01:03A moment of deepening, dedicated to the innovative use, in terms of management,
01:07technologies in the highway infrastructure and services offered to travelers.
01:12In the course of this fair, we will talk about the traffic simulation model
01:18that we have developed, as Sapienza Università di Roma, on behalf of the Alma Viva Society,
01:24the traffic simulation model of the CAV highway network,
01:28which includes the master lane, the passing of the master A4
01:36and the connection with the Marco Polo airport.
01:40The model allows to predict traffic through a sensor system that is spread throughout the network.
01:50It works with two modes, let's say an offline mode,
01:56that is, a mode that allows the operator to simulate what happens in the presence of some events.
02:02For example, an incident that blocks one or two lanes of the highway
02:07and therefore predictably will lead to a tail that propagates.
02:11The model allows to calculate the propagation speed of the tail,
02:15the extension of this tail as time varies.
02:18These are avant-garde solutions that will make the use of CAV routes
02:23more and more secure and efficient.
02:25So, at the network level, the availability of traffic monitoring systems,
02:30the ones we talked about today, can provide very useful information
02:35to predict the occurrence of road accidents
02:39and therefore take into account those actions that are in some way designed
02:44to reduce the probability of an accident and therefore anticipate the possibility that this will happen.
02:50The meeting was hosted in the Veneto region stand,
02:53always committed to ensuring the safety of transport.
02:56As a region, we are very interested in the application of new technologies
02:59in the transport sector in general and in road infrastructure in particular.
03:04The maximum attention we pay in the road sector in particular is for safety.
03:10And so today, with the increasing volume of traffic that we have on our highways,
03:15safety is the central issue.
03:17So technology can help a lot in this.
03:20And also in terms of network capacity,
03:23technology can help to use technology and avoid having to build new infrastructures
03:29or expand existing ones with further soil consumption,
03:32because one of the objectives of the region is also that of the containment of soil consumption in the coming years.
