00:00In the course of this fair, we will talk about the traffic simulation model that we have developed as Sapienza Università di Roma on behalf of the Alma Viva company.
00:18The traffic simulation model of the CAV highway network, which includes the tangential of Mestre, the passing of the A4 of Mestre and the connection with the Marco Polo airport.
00:34The model allows you to predict traffic through a sensor system that is disseminated throughout the network.
00:44It works in two ways.
00:47An offline mode, that is, a mode that allows the operator to simulate what happens in the presence of some events.
00:56For example, an incident that blocks one or two lanes of the highway and therefore predictably leads to a tail that propagates.
01:05The model allows you to calculate the propagation speed of the tail, the extension of this tail as time varies.
01:12Or, if you plan to carry out work in progress for a certain period, to simulate what are the traffic conditions that follow.
01:22It also allows you to estimate what strategies can be adopted to minimize the impact.
01:28For example, to divert part of the traffic on an alternative route.
01:32In the specific case of the CAV network, we have the passing and the tangential.
01:37This is certainly useful for planning interventions over time.
01:43The Ministerial Decree 70 of 2018 requires road managers to equip themselves with this model system in order to plan interventions and implement strategies.
01:57There is then a second mode, the online mode, which instead automatically launches these simulations and makes them advance over time.
02:06So that we have a forecast of traffic in the next two hours and therefore allows us to implement strategies that are already predefined and that are applied according to the traffic conditions detected.
