00:00We are witnessing a robotic revolution in urology, medicine and surgery.
00:11Many interventions that were previously performed with open-cell surgery, are now performed in robotics.
00:18Robotics have been implanted in many Italian centres by laparoscopy
00:23and the spread is extremely important throughout the peninsula.
00:29The leading example was the Intuitive Surgical System, the Da Vinci robot.
00:36Today we are also witnessing the spread of other platforms,
00:40some already on the market, others in the future, which will receive the European brand.
00:48We will therefore have the possibility of using multiple surgeries, multiple robotic platforms,
00:57also in the future in tele-surgery.
01:00What does this mean?
01:01The possibility of operating from your own centre, even at many thousands of kilometres away.
01:07This is one of the possible futures that will allow us to carry out our tasks
01:14while being comfortably seated in hospitals, in hospitals, in our studies,
01:19but also operating in other continents.
01:23What will this determine on the patient's side?
01:28As far as times are concerned, I imagine also on the management of waiting lists,
01:35a series of problems that always affect the patient when he has to approach the doctor.
01:42Robotic surgery is becoming more and more rapid,
01:45so the interventions are very fast,
01:48even comparable to open-air techniques, if not faster.
01:54Recovery times are certainly faster due to the mini-invasiveness,
01:59to the fact that seeing well means operating well.
02:03It is the first criterion, to operate well you have to see well.
02:06Robotic surgery allows us to enlarge the operating field many times
02:11and therefore to be attentive to the particular surgeons.
02:14This means less loss of subject matter,
02:16less recovery, faster recovery of work activities,
02:20shorter waiting times.
02:23Even for prostate cancer,
02:25nowadays the waiting times are 48-72 hours,
02:29more and more tending to 48 hours.
02:32This means that the patient is in the hospital for two days,
02:36so very, very short times.
02:38This is an advantage of society, of productivity and of the national PIL.
