08 October - National weather forecast by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, hope you're enjoying your Saturday. It is a fairly fine day for
00:05many of us out there and that's all thanks to high pressure. Looking at the
00:08bigger picture we can see that area of high pressure that's been building
00:11across particularly southern areas of the UK. It will stay with England and
00:15Wales into Sunday but a front is going to push its way into Northern Ireland
00:20and Scotland so turning a bit more unsettled for the second half the
00:23weekend here. Looking at the detail for the rest of Saturday though, plenty of
00:27sunshine for many locations. A few scattered showers to cater for across
00:32Western Scotland with a bit of a breeze but still the winds noticeably lighter
00:36compared to recent days. Temperatures climbing to highs of 12-14 degrees in
00:41Scotland but in the sunshine further south we'll see temperatures peak around
00:4517 degrees Celsius. Those clear skies will remain for areas of England and
00:50Wales overnight so that may allow some mist and fog patches to form particularly
00:53in river valleys and temperatures will drop off down into single figures. But
00:58the winds are going to pick up across Northern Ireland and Scotland as that
01:02frontal feature begins to make its presence known. The cloud building here
01:05will also hold up temperatures so locations here won't drop down much
01:09below double digits. That means it will be a milder start to Sunday, also a
01:14windier one with gales developing potentially severe for a time across
01:18some most exposed locations. The rain then spreading its way in turning fairly
01:24damp and soggy for Northern Ireland and areas of Scotland over the course of
01:27Sunday. For England and Wales though, Sunday will be another fairly fine day.
01:32Some sunny spells in there. The winds coming up from the south which means
01:36temperatures will be up by a degree or so, highs of 18 degrees Celsius but
01:40feeling fairly cool underneath that persistent cloud and rain further
01:44northwest. Into the start of next week that front will clear its way through
01:48and high pressure returns once again to help settle things down and temperatures
01:52not doing too badly for the start of October. You can keep up to date with
01:56everything by following us on social media and of course we'll see you again
01:59here on YouTube and on the app soon. Bye bye!
