00:00Hi there, there will be some breaks in the cloud, some sunshine for a few during the
00:05rest of the day but for most it is a cloudy picture, that cloud draping over the hills
00:10of northern parts of the UK and bringing some outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, some
00:16persistent wet weather for northern and western Scotland. The rain pushing into Shetland by
00:21the end of the afternoon, it's a warm front so it is bringing higher temperatures here
00:24but staying on the cold side in Shetland whilst the rest of the country sees well above our
00:29average temperatures and where we get some cloud breaks for the Midlands, for southern
00:34parts of England, 13 or even 14 Celsius is possible. And that means that overnight it
00:40will stay mild, the southwesterly breeze pulling in an awful lot of cloud, any cloud breaks
00:46fairly fleeting I think, for most it is a cloudy night and there will be some drizzly
00:51showers across western and southern parts of the UK, some more persistent and at times
00:55heavier rain for western Scotland but these are the temperatures overnight so frost free,
01:017 or 8 Celsius for the vast majority as we wake up on Thursday. It is a dull and damp
01:06start to the day for many further outbreaks of mainly light rain, mainly affecting western
01:11hills but one or two spots of rain elsewhere. Again the cloud will break in places especially
01:18for central and southern parts of the UK and it will turn increasingly breezy but that
01:23breeze coming from the southwest so it is bringing mild air, 12 or 13 Celsius possible
01:28in the south. However a change is on the way, it turns increasingly windy to the north and
01:32west of Scotland as heavy rain moves in by the end of the afternoon, some really quite
01:37lively gusts, 50, 60 mph wind gusts associated with this heavy rain and colder air following
01:43so that rain as it pushes in bringing some snow to the higher parts of Scotland as well
01:49as northern England, mainly above 300 metres or so and it is a transient feature, it moves
01:54through quickly so nothing too significant as far as snow cover is concerned. Wintry
01:59showers follow the rain as that front follows south during Thursday night and into the start
02:05of Friday. So a brief spell of lively winds and heavy rain pushing south east across the
