00:00Hello. Some much-needed rain has been falling across parts of East Anglia and the south-east.
00:06Some very heavy rain and thunderstorms and they are continuing for the next few hours
00:10but they're going to be swept away by a cold front which is pushing cooler conditions into
00:16much of the UK now along with brighter skies and so for much of Western and Northern England,
00:21Wales, sunny spells. Scattered showers for Western Scotland and Northern Ireland, a bit
00:26more cloud here. The main area of activity through the afternoon eases away. Still the
00:31potential for some lively spells of rain, perhaps a thunderstorm but the bulk of the
00:36thundery activity now easing and drier conditions arriving by the end of the afternoon. Still
00:43the potential if the sun comes out for 25, 26 Celsius in the south-east. Much fresher
00:48conditions further north and west and certainly less humid compared with recent days. Now
00:54once the cloud clears through, it's clear skies for much of England, Wales, eastern
00:59Scotland. Thicker cloud into Western Scotland and Northern Ireland. The showers turn to
01:03more prolonged spells of rain for a time during the night and then some showers start to spill
01:08into West Wales and Cornwall by the early hours. But away from those showery areas,
01:14clear spells and temperatures falling further than they have done during recent nights so
01:19a more comfortable night for sleeping. Largely 10 to 13 Celsius on the thermometer by dawn.
01:25And dawn starts off bright across central and eastern England. Northern Scotland as
01:29well seeing some sunny spells. The Northern Isles perhaps continuing to experience showers.
01:35But the showers across West Wales into the south-west slowly move east and the showers
01:41across northern England, southern Scotland, eastern Scotland pep up. So some sharp downpours
01:46by the afternoon here. Away from the showers, bright skies and sunny spells towards the
01:50south-east as well as the north-west. And a cool day expected compared with recent days.
01:56But temperatures at around average for the time of year low to mid-20s in the south.
02:00High teens perhaps 20 to 21 Celsius in the north. Into Friday evening the showers continue
02:06for a time across central and southern Scotland into parts of western England as well as Wales.
02:11Eventually they ease but clear spells elsewhere will lead to a fresh start to the weekend
02:18towards the north-west. Especially temperatures into the single figures here. However high
02:23pressure is building in for this weekend. A bank holiday for many and that will settle
02:28things down but still the potential for the odd shower.
