Transcript
00:00Welcome to your national weather updates.
00:02Most of us will see a bit of blue sky on Tuesday,
00:05but there will still be a fair few showers around,
00:08as there will be for most of this week.
00:10The heavy showers across the southeast
00:12clearing away during Monday evening,
00:14more coming into northern Scotland.
00:16Elsewhere, many places will be dry overnight,
00:18so there'll be light winds, clear skies,
00:20and temperatures will dip down into single figures,
00:22certainly in many rural spots.
00:24Most towns and cities will probably hold up
00:26at 10 or 11 Celsius.
00:28On to Tuesday, and it will be a case of sunshine
00:30and showers, probably not as many heavy showers,
00:33of course, East Anglia in the southeast
00:34as there were through Monday.
00:36Some across the southwest of Wales initially,
00:38but I'm reasonably hopeful here
00:40it will be a largely dry afternoon.
00:42Showers creeping their way south
00:44across central and southern Scotland,
00:46and some heavy ones then developing through the afternoon,
00:48particularly over northern,
00:50particularly northeastern parts of England.
00:52But northwest Scotland looking a bit brighter.
00:54As I mentioned, Wales, southwest England,
00:56not too many showers here.
00:58Some sunny spells at times for Northern Ireland.
01:01With the breeze still coming in from the north
01:03or the northwest, temperatures will still be around
01:06or below average for the time of year,
01:07struggling into the high teens,
01:09maybe the low 20s across the south.
01:11The winds are at least a little lighter than through Monday.
01:14But some of these showers across northeastern parts
01:16of England, southeast Scotland could be on the heavy side
01:18during Tuesday evening,
01:20taking a time before they start to fade away.
01:24A bit more cloud and showery rain coming in
01:26from Northern Ireland to northwest England
01:28through the early hours,
01:28but most places becoming dry and clear,
01:31quite a chilly start to Wednesday morning,
01:34generally a fine and sunny start,
01:36but some cloud and showers over northern England
01:38will see more developing through the day.
01:40And then we look west as cloud and rain
01:42spills into Northern Ireland,
01:44and then later on through Wales and southwest England.
01:47But I suspect a good chunk of the country
01:49will be mostly fine and sunny for most of Wednesday,
01:52but this weather system will bring some rain in
01:54during Wednesday night and into Thursday.
01:57With a bit more sunshine, temperatures a touch higher,
01:59getting more widely into the 20s,
02:02but turning cooler as the rain arrives
02:04across Northern Ireland.
02:06As I said, that rain will spread across most areas
02:08during Wednesday evening and linger into Thursday
02:11as this weather system moves in,
02:13pulling away during the day on Thursday.
02:15And then we look west again for an area of low pressure
02:19to spiral in bands of showers across the country
02:22as we head towards the weekend.
02:23So staying cool and showery it looks like
02:25for much of the rest of this month,
02:28perhaps some signs of a change as we go into August.
