00:00Thanks for joining me for this national weather update.
00:02The cool feel continues.
00:05And there's some lively showers around today as well,
00:07particularly over parts of East Anglia and the southeast.
00:10We had some heavy rain through the night.
00:11This band of rain has been slowly
00:13tracking its way southwards, showing
00:15signs of fizzling out, but still providing, as I said,
00:18some heavy showers over parts of Hampshire,
00:21towards the London area, and towards Essex.
00:24They'll tend to fade as we head towards evening time.
00:27A sprinkling of lighter showers elsewhere,
00:30but large chunks of the country staying dry,
00:32and even some sunshine here and there.
00:35There's certainly some decent bright spells,
00:37but it's not warm.
00:38The air is coming down from the north, that cool breeze,
00:40keeping the temperatures for most of us in the teens.
00:43As we go through this evening, still one or two
00:45heavy showers possible on the south coast for a while,
00:48but they tend to fade pretty quickly, I suspect.
00:51Some showers will return to northern Scotland.
00:53Most other places will see some lengthy clear spells
00:56overnight.
00:57The winds ease off a touch, and it will be quite a cool night.
00:59Temperatures well down into single figures
01:01in some rural spots, most towns and cities hovering
01:04around 10 to 12 Celsius.
01:06Onto Tuesday, and there will be some sunshine around,
01:09but there will again be some showers.
01:11Quite a lot of cloud initially over northern Scotland.
01:14Sprinkling of showers for Wales and southwest England.
01:16I'm reasonably optimistic here that the showers will fade,
01:19and for much of Wales, southwest England,
01:22large parts of the afternoon will just be dry and bright.
01:25It's further north across southern Scotland,
01:26northeast England, where we are likely to see some heavy
01:29showers during the afternoon.
01:31Some for east Anglia and the southeast,
01:33but again, they'll be hit and miss here.
01:35Some decent spells of sunshine.
01:36They're turning a bit drier over northern Scotland, too.
01:39But all the while, the air is still
01:40coming in from the north, so although temperatures
01:42for many are a degree or so higher tomorrow,
01:44still for most, a touch below average for the time of year,
01:47generally just getting into the 20s across the south coast.
01:51As we go through Tuesday evening, still a few
01:53of those heavy showers around through the rush hour
01:55across parts of northeast England in particular,
01:57but tending to fade away.
01:59Out in the Atlantic, however, there's
02:02an area of low pressure which is starting to gather,
02:05and that will push a spell of rain
02:06across the country during Wednesday and into Thursday.
02:09And low pressure continues to dominate as we head
02:12towards the weekend as well.
02:13So no real sign of the weather settling down.
02:16There will be some sunny spells between the bounds of showery
02:19rain crossing the country, but generally staying
02:22on the cool side for the rest of this week.
