00:00First of all, apologies, this is not a proper review of the new Audi R8 V10+. I'll do a
00:11proper review when I get the car in the UK. I thought I'd give you a bit of an update
00:15of what's happening on the launch. I've just picked the car up now and taken it on what
00:19they described as the scenic route and, well, it's certainly pretty scenic. There's the
00:28C. I've had to stop to get out because I've made myself feel a little bit sick. It's just
00:33so twisty and this thing is just so fast. We've got 550 horsepower coming out of that
00:42V10 there. Whoa. And it sounds awesome. I'll give you a blast of it in a bit. And it's
00:49got carbon ceramic brakes. Can you see them? A standard, which are really handy on these
00:56twisty roads because they're getting a bit of a workout. And it also features lowered
01:00suspension over the normal R8, which means it's a bit firmer because you haven't got
01:06the magnetic ride. But if you're going to be spending most of your time driving your
01:11R8 on fantastic empty roads such as this, it might be worth paying the extra for the
01:19V10 Plus. Now, here's a little blast of it then. I promised you I'd give you a quick
01:24listen, so here we go. Wow, it sounds great. It's even better when it's under load. And
01:37I have to point out this car gets a new R-Tronic. No, not R-Tronic. The R-Tronic's gone. That
01:43was a single-clutch robotised manual. This is an S-Tronic dual-clutch system, and it's
01:49so much better. It transforms this car. It's got seamless shifts. It's no let-up in torque,
01:56and it really lets you make the most of this car's immense performance. We're talking 0-60
02:02miles an hour. I think it's 3.5 or 3.7. It's splitting hairs, isn't it? 0.2 per second.
02:10This new gearbox transforms this car. Nice work, Audi. Okay, I understand that most of
02:19you would like to hear this car when it is being driven, so what I'm going to do is try
02:24and hold my phone in my mouth so you can see and hear it being driven. Okay? So I don't
02:32know whether this is going to work. We'll find out. So let's switch over to mouth cam.
02:36I can't hold it with my hands, obviously, because that's dangerous.
02:41There we go. It's in my mouth. Hopefully, you won't get too much heavy breathing. Let's go.
02:53Bloody bus.
03:06I think I'll do it with the windows up.
03:36Is there always cyclists in the middle of the road around here? Let's go into sports mode.
03:55Well, that was close. Thank God for the carbon ceramic brakes.
03:59Well, I hope you like my little impromptu review of the new Audi R8 V10 Plus, because, well,
04:14I got jaw break in the process of filming it. I won't be filming by holding my phone in my
04:21mouth again because it does hurt after a while and you probably noticed as well. You can't
04:25really tell what I'm saying because it just mumbles. Overall though, my impressions of this
04:29car? Well, it costs £127,000 with the S-Tronic gearbox, which is 12g more than the normal R8 V10
04:38coupe. Is it worth it? Well, I think it's going to be worth it if you plan to drive your R8 pretty
04:45hard. If you've got roads similar to the ones I've been driving on today, nearby, or you're
04:50going to do a lot of track days, then you'll probably benefit from the extra performance
04:55and added handling this affords you. However, if you're going to do more cruising about, I'd say
05:00just get the normal R8 V10. In fact, my favourite personally is the Spyder because you get to hear
05:06that brilliant V10 even better. Anyway, it's the end of the review. I hope you enjoyed it.

05:16on other car launches in future.
