00:00Due to the expected increase in traffic during the upcoming holiday season,

00:04MMDA and malls in Metro Manila agreed to adjust the time of mall operations until Christmas.

00:18Can you feel the heavy traffic?

00:21It's Christmas for more than two months now, according to MMDA.

00:26In EDSA alone, 421,000 vehicles pass through each day in September.

00:34That's higher than 399,000 in the same month in 2023.

00:40According to MMDA, this is an effect of the holiday rush.

00:44Before Ondas, it will be heavy.

00:47Then after Ondas, it will be straight until Christmas time.

00:52MMDA and mall operators agreed to adjust the time of mall operations throughout Metro Manila

01:01from November 18 until December 25.

01:04Malls will open at 11 a.m.

01:09Mall operators were instructed to close at that time.

01:13There are more than 100 malls in Metro Manila and 20 of them are within EDSA's reach.

01:20During peak hours, there was a lot of traffic.

01:23That's when the traffic slowed down completely.

01:27With this program, the number of vehicles didn't decrease,

01:34but we were able to spread it out over a longer period of time.

01:38It's better to buy a gift earlier

01:41because a large-scale mall sale is also prohibited starting November 18.

01:46We are supporting whatever MMDA is requesting from us, sir.

02:28from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.,

02:31except for perishable goods.

02:34There will also be moratoriums on excavation activities,

02:37but flagship government projects and emergency repairs are exempted.

02:42MMDA traffic personnel will be on duty until 12 p.m.

02:48and on a case-to-case basis if a minor traffic violation is detected.
