00:00Hey, how's it going guys? This is Dave2D and welcome to episode 4 of My Laptop Setup.
00:13A series where I feature the laptop setups that you guys submit and also showcase whatever it is that you do with your gear.
00:19And so this week's episode is on music production.
00:21And this is something that I didn't realize was as popular as it is with laptop users, but here we are.
00:27There's some really cool submissions, I'm really happy to share them with you.
00:30First up, we have a submission from Erwik.
00:32So he goes to a music school in India for audio production, and the heart of his setup is a 17-inch Alienware laptop.
00:38This thing is really decked out, Skylake i7, 32 gigs of RAM, and GTX 980M.
00:43He uses a Razer DeathAdder mouse, and for storage, he's using a Western Digital My Passport drive.
00:49He also has some other accessories like a Sony SmartWatch 3 and an Ipega game controller.
00:54And he stores all of this in a Razer utility backpack.
00:57For music production, he uses a Scarlett 2i2, some condenser mics, a MIDI pad controller, a pair of M50Xs,
01:05and these have the Brainwaves padding upgrade.
01:07He also uses a FiiO A3 headphone amp, and if you're wondering what those do,
01:11they basically take an audio signal and then they produce a clean, more powerful version of that signal for your earphones.
01:17So I've actually been experimenting with a tube amp from Woo Audio, it's called the WA7, you can kind of see it back there.
01:22They're pretty cool.
01:23So Urwerk submitted some links to his music on SoundCloud, and he also included a video of his music on YouTube.
01:48There's links to his SoundCloud and the music video in the video description below.
01:52Thank you very much for your submission, Urwerk.
01:53The second laptop setup today is from Jisoo.
01:56He's also a student in a music school, and he's part of a music duo called Sundial.
02:00He's had some of his tracks released by some bigger names like Trap Nation and Mr. Suicide Sheep on YouTube.
02:05For gear, he's using a 15-inch MacBook Pro, a 12.9-inch iPad Pro with an ESR sleeve,
02:11he's using a 1TB CD8 drive, and an Apple Magic Mouse.
02:14Now if I could make one suggestion, Jisoo, I know the Magic Mouse looks really clean and it looks cool,
02:19but there are so many better wireless mouse out there.
02:21For example, the Logitech MX Anywhere 2, I highly recommend taking a look at other mice.
02:27For music gear, he's using a mic from Shure, an M-Audio M-Track, and uses two headphones,
02:32the AKG Q701 and a pair of white M50Xs from Audio-Technica.
02:36He's also a speedcuber and uses the MoYu Aolong version 2.
02:40So he also submitted some music on SoundCloud, and his music...
02:50If you're interested, links to his music stuff is down below.
02:53Thank you for your submission, Jisoo.
02:55Last up, we have a video by a guy named Jisoo.
02:58He's using an Apple MacBook Pro, a 12.9-inch iPad Pro with an ESR sleeve,
03:03and an Apple Magic Mouse on YouTube.
03:05Now if I could make one suggestion, Jisoo, I know the Magic Mouse looks really clean and it looks cool,
03:09but there are so many better wireless mouse out there.
03:11For music gear, he's using a mic from Shure, an M-Audio M-Track, and uses two headphones,
03:15the AKG Q701 and a pair of white M50Xs from Audio-Technica.
03:18Last up, we have a laptop setup from Jason, and he does covers of movie soundtracks.
03:23So his gear includes the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro and an LG G4,
03:27and when he's in a studio, he plugs up to a Dell monitor and uses a pair of Yamaha HS7 speakers.
03:33For audio gear, he has a couple audio interfaces, the Steinberg UR12 and a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8.
03:40The headphones he uses are the Audio-Technica M50Xs.
03:44Everyone's got a pair of those in this episode.
03:46And then he uses a couple of Rode mics and a Zoom recorder.
03:49He also has some nice video gear, and you'll see why in a little bit.
03:52He's got the a6300, a Panasonic G7, and some Sigma lenses.
03:56So Jason does this stuff where he records himself playing one line of a song,
04:00and he'll do it multiple times, and then he'll compile it all together to create this.
04:16If you guys are interested in seeing more of Jason's stuff, check the video description below.
04:36There's links down there.
04:37Also down there are instructions on how to submit your own content if you're interested.
04:42Now, if you've seen some of my videos or some of these episodes and thought,
04:46people do some really cool stuff, I'd have, like, a more normal life, I'm not a music producer, I don't do crazy stuff,
04:52don't be intimidated by that.
04:53I just, as long as you're submitting whatever it is that you do and you showcase your stuff nicely,
04:59that's the most important thing.
05:00You showcase and you take good photos and you kind of tell me what it is that you do,
05:04there's a very good chance that I'll use you in a future episode.
05:06I'll just theme it to whatever it is that you do.
05:08Hope you guys enjoyed this video.
05:10Thumbs if you liked it, subs if you loved it.
05:11It's been nice.
05:12See you guys next time.
