00:00We're here at the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery for an exhibition of the work that the club photographer produced whilst they were away on their European adventures.
00:09And it's a celebration really of Brighton's time in Europe.
00:13This is a collaboration between myself and Danny Last.
00:19There's a mixture as you look around the room of bits and pieces from the town as well as match action and fan pictures inside the stadium.
00:27To be able to go to some of these really cultural rich places, superb cities across Europe,
00:34and photograph Brighton fans enjoying that culture in the city centre, at the Trevi Fountain, at the Coliseum.
00:43It doesn't get any better than that.
00:45There's a quote over there that I put together when I first started doing this.
00:51I was sitting on the touchline at Withdean in front of 3,000 people in the pouring rain in League 2 thinking,
00:59this is it, this is great, this is how I want to spend my life.
01:04And then rock on for a couple of decades and we're playing in Europe.
01:10Walking around seeing some of the exhibits just now just brings back so many great memories for me.
01:14I remember attending the group stage tour in Monaco, knowing that it was a really significant moment in the club's history.
01:21And looking around, having known for two or three months it was coming, and then trying to take it all in.
01:26Some of the biggest clubs in European football were there, and there was Brighton Herbal been alongside them.
01:31And it made me proud, so I can only imagine what it made the chairman feel like.
01:36So many memories in terms of the season and getting there when we finished sixth.
01:41And last season, as Paul mentioned, in terms of the tour.
01:44And then when we got these three iconic clubs, Marseille, Ajax and AEK Athens.
01:51Everyone in the city was so excited for us to be there and to be on that journey.
01:56And particularly for the away games, I really enjoyed meeting the fans in the cities before the game and being at those stadiums.
02:07And then over the six games to win the group, one of the best ever moments, we've had many of them, at the Amex.
02:14But the last one in, Michel Pedro goal, certainly will live in the memory for a very long time.
02:20It's amazing to see how much it means to people.
02:22And with the draw that we got, the away days were fantastic for the fans.
02:28All four of them were great away days, and it was great to see all the fans there.
02:32It's profound as far as I'm concerned.
02:35It's about a celebration of a club that's come a long, long way.
02:39It's about celebrating Brighton and Hove as a place.
02:43I think it also, even if you don't love football or like football or don't even know what football is,
02:50I think you will appreciate the fact that this is about a celebration of place.
