00:00How are the 1,500 Italian plants doing?
00:05The 1,500 Italian plants are now daily in contact with the first hybrid or fully electric vehicles.
00:14Obviously the percentage is still low, but there are many security problems.
00:20There are no real ministerial guidelines.
00:23The plant has to dismantle the electric vehicle, not in safety,
00:30because only the most basic safety rules are missing,
00:35and it is up to the entrepreneur to decide in an almost arbitrary way how to dismantle it.
00:41We are often faced with the difficulty of talking to the construction companies.
00:46We have construction companies that guide us from Korean to Chinese,
00:51making it easy to understand the difficulty for our centres to work in this way,
00:59not even understanding the importance of a battery recycling line,
01:04which is very important for us Italians.
01:06We are a country that does not have a lot of resources,
01:08so the circular economy is used to be able to take that material from lithium to cobalt,
01:14which is needed for the economy of tomorrow and will be needed more and more.
01:18First of all, the operator cannot understand whether it is an electrified vehicle or not,
01:23because to this day we do not know, there is no memo on the car that says this is an electrified vehicle,
01:29he already has to know.
01:30In the disassembly we do not know if the vehicle still has a charge,
01:34and therefore only, and as unfortunately has happened for some contractors,
01:38think about the fire fighters who have to intervene in safety and speed to save,
01:44and then also the recycling centres that remove the vehicle and have to disassemble it,
01:48and therefore the risk of death, unfortunately, is one of the easiest cases,
01:53because being struck by such a strong electrical discharge
01:57can unfortunately lead to terrible consequences for the operator and the worker.
