00:00Even before he was elected president, the chief executive had always been consistent about his call for unity and an end to divisiveness that has long plagued the nation.

00:09Thus, the leader of the land was elated and did not miss the opportunity to patch things up with a political rival.

00:20President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed delight in crossing paths again with former Vice President Lenny Robredo.

00:26This following his meeting with her and former Senator Bam Aquino yesterday at the inauguration of the Sorosogon Sports Arena.

00:33In his speech in an event in Malacañang today, the chief executive thanked Senate President Cheese Escudero,

00:38who brokered yesterday's brief meeting and Escudero's intent to patch things up between the president and Robredo.

00:44Senate President Cheese Escudero, who has taken a very important step towards political reconciliation yesterday.

00:56Escudero invited Robredo to the event to welcome the president on behalf of the Bicol region.

01:01The president said he was delighted with his brief interaction with the former vice president.

01:05Well done. I'm so happy you did that.

01:09For House Speaker Martin Romualdez, this only emphasizes the unity that the president has long advocated for.

01:15It has always been our president's message to the country that we always must unite, that Filipinos should always be as one.

01:27The president and Robredo were rivals and the top contenders in the 2016 vice presidential race and then later in the 2022 presidential elections.

01:36Robredo won the bottom of the ticket in 2016, but President Marcos Jr. buried the competition in an avalanche in the 2022 presidential race.
