00:00What's up guys, today I wanted to revisit the Pixel 7 in 2024.
00:04This is a phone that I don't get a ton of requests to revisit,
00:07but I think it's a phone that you guys should really take a look at.
00:10I actually think this is better than the Pixel 7 Pro in two ways,
00:14depending on what you're looking for.
00:16But this is $239 here on Amazon,
00:21and I got this one renewed, refurbished here,
00:24and I would stick to that price point.
00:25I wouldn't pay more than, you know, around that $200 price point.
00:28And this is an excellent buy considering what you get.
00:31So, the Pixel 7 has a really nice design,
00:35and what I like about it is it's an easy phone to hold.
00:40It's not super, you know, super small,
00:43but it's very easy to hold,
00:44and that's something that I really appreciate about this device
00:47for anybody looking for something a little bit, you know, more compact.
00:51It's a fully glass and metal phone, so it's IP68 as well too.
00:55It's got the classic Pixel camera bar back here.
00:58The only thing about this phone is it can pick up fingerprints,
01:01and it really depends on the color you get.
01:04But the design on here has held up pretty well,
01:07so I haven't really had any issues with the design on here.
01:12You've got a 6.3-inch display.
01:14It's an AMOLED display at 90 Hz.
01:17So, you know, I wish it was 120 Hz,
01:19but honestly, the 90 Hz, it is fine.
01:22Again, for these price points, HDR10+, at 1400 nits peak brightness as well too.
01:27And then it's a 1080p display, 416 for the PPI.
01:31Overall, the display is nice.
01:33Yes, this phone does have, you know, a little bit of bezels on it,
01:36especially you can see at the bottom as well too.
01:40But the overall display quality is not really an issue.
01:43I thought the outdoor brightness was enough for me as well too,
01:47you know, taking pictures if it's sunny outside.
01:49So I really didn't have an issue with the display.
01:52And like I said, it is also, you know, very easy to use this phone
01:57with one hand.
01:58So overall, for the display, it's fine.
02:00You don't really notice the lack of 120 Hz, honestly.
02:04It still feels smooth.
02:06So overall, I do really like the panel on here.
02:09Let's talk about the overall specs on here.
02:12So the Pixel is running Android 14, soon to get Android 15.
02:16You have the Tensor G2 processor on here,
02:19128 GB of internal storage and 8 GB of RAM on here.
02:23This phone, it does a pretty decent job with gaming performance.
02:27But like I said, I wouldn't recommend this phone as far as
02:32if you're like an actual gamer because you can get a, you know,
02:35Samsung Galaxy phone with much better settings for PUBG.
02:39It's just that those Snapdragon chips are going to be,
02:41you know, more optimized for gaming.
02:45But if you're just a casual gamer,
02:47this phone still does a pretty good job gaming.
02:49I've never really run into an issue with performance.
02:52And I think the Android 14 update did a lot of, you know,
02:56work in terms of making the phone a lot smoother and, you know,
03:01just a little bit more efficient.
03:02It's not really, this phone doesn't really heat up too bad as well too.
03:06So I've never really had any performance problems as far as gaming performance.
03:10So yeah, so can you, you know, game on these Pixel phones?
03:14Yeah, of course.
03:14But I would say if you are somebody who is, you know, more competitive,
03:19you can play at 90 frames on the older Galaxy phones that run the
03:25Snapdragon processor.
03:27But as you guys can see here, no lag or anything like that.
03:31Everything is really smooth as far as performance goes.
03:35So to answer the questions about software support,
03:38you can see the Pixel 7 will be supported to October 2025,
03:43which means it'll be supported for major updates.
03:47So it'll get Android 16.
03:49So it will also, you know, stop getting security updates October 2027.
03:55So that means you could basically use the phone and have security updates up to
03:592027 and your last major OS update will be Android 16.
04:04So Pixel phones, the older ones, typically they have a three-year pledge.
04:09If you bought the, like the Pixel 8 Pro or Pixel 8,
04:12those phones have a much, much longer software lifespan as well too.
04:17But I think this is fine considering the price you pay.
04:20You can keep the phone for quite a long time.
04:22Let's check out these speakers at max volume.
04:43So the speakers are still pretty good on the Pixel 7.
04:47Pretty good amount of bass, fairly loud, especially for the size of this device.
04:51Now, I know a lot of people, you know, don't like these Pixel fingerprint scanners
04:57and they definitely aren't the fastest that I've used.
05:01They're not like the ultrasonic ones, but they do get the job right.
05:04You just got to be really precise with it.
05:07And you definitely have to, since they're not, since they're optical ones,
05:11you have to kind of apply a little bit of pressure.
05:14But it's not really a big deal.
05:16Once you get it down pack, it works, you know, perfectly fine.
05:19The most important thing about this phone is actually the cameras.
05:22So the Pixel 7 still has, in my opinion,
05:26one of the best cameras that you can get for this price range.
05:30It easily can compete with right now.
05:33Like right now, it can compete with an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
05:36It can compete with the Galaxy, even the newest Pixels.
05:39This phone still takes excellent photos.
05:42It's extremely impressive how good the photos are on the Pixel 7.
05:47It is really, really good.
05:48So anybody who's really into, you know, taking pictures
05:52and you want some really nice crispy photos,
05:54it does great in low light as well too.
05:56The selfie cam is good.
05:58You also have good skin tones as well too.
06:01It just does a phenomenal job when it comes to image quality.
06:05It's got a 50-megapixel standard and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide.
06:09Yes, it is missing, of course, the telephoto lens.
06:11That's what you would buy the Pixel 7 Pro for.
06:14But honestly, you know, this is well worth it for the price point.
06:18The 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide selfie camera is pretty good.
06:23It shoots in 4K60 as well too on the front and back.
06:26And like I said, I love the photos.
06:28It doesn't get any better than this.
06:30These are excellent, excellent photos.
06:32Great color, great dynamic range.
06:35Ultra-wide is very consistent with the main lens as well too.
06:38It's just a really great phone to take pictures with.
06:41The video is also pretty decent.
06:43Honestly, not going to be as good as the photos,
06:46but the video is pretty decent.
06:47I film all of my YouTube shorts actually with Pixel phones.
06:50I was filming it with the Pixel 7 Pro.
06:53So I actually like the Pixel video,
06:55but I definitely understand, you know,
06:56Samsung Galaxies and iPhones definitely have advantage there.
07:00But as far as still photography,
07:02you're getting basically a top-tier flagship camera.
07:06You've also got a lot of the very cool features here
07:09like the magic eraser, the blur tool,
07:12and the portrait blur as well.
07:15And like I said, I'm a big fan of the image editor here
07:18on the Pixels as well too.
07:20So yeah, so overall, the camera is just awesome.
07:23All right, so another thing about the Pixel 7 Pro,
07:25and this is, I think, one of the main highlights,
07:27is that this phone actually has a good battery life,
07:30especially for a smaller phone.
07:31It's a 4,355 milliamp hour battery.
07:35You also have 20 watt charging along with wireless
07:38and reverse wireless charging as well too.
07:41Battery life is easy.
07:42It easily lasts all day with this phone.
07:45So that's something that I really like.
07:46I think the battery life is actually better
07:48than the Pixel 7 Pro as well too.
07:50So it's just a fascinating phone to consider here in 2024.
07:56I think it just takes some of the best photos,
07:58especially for this price point.
08:00And like I said, it's very comfortable.
08:02So if you were thinking about getting a Pixel 7 Pro,
08:06which is still a great phone,
08:08but this definitely is really good
08:10because it's smaller,
08:11so it's a little bit more comfortable.
08:13You have good battery life on here as well too.
08:16And the cameras are still world-class cameras.
08:21And the processor is pretty good.
08:22Like I said, I never really had any performance problems.
08:25Yeah, this phone can get a little bit warm,
08:28but overall, I don't think,
08:30if you're not really a serious gamer,
08:32then you won't really run into too many issues
08:33with this phone.
08:34But let me know what you guys think.
08:36Do you have a Pixel 7 Pro?
08:37Have you had any issues with it?
08:39Do you have a Pixel 7?
08:40Be sure to let me know,
08:41and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
