00:00What's up guys, today we will be comparing the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 14 Pro here.
00:08So this was a pretty interesting request for me because the iPhone 11 is aging so well
00:14guys and if you have an iPhone 11, let's talk about the pros and the cons of going ahead
00:19and upgrading.
00:20So one of the first things is that the 14 Pro is going to be expensive guys.
00:25It is a thousand dollar phone and if you don't have either of these phones and you
00:29want an iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 is actually going for well under 400 bucks now so it's
00:34a very good deal for an older flagship phone.
00:38So I want to start off with the hardware.
00:40I still really like the look of the iPhone 11 and I actually prefer the curved edges
00:46on the iPhone 11.
00:47It feels really good in the hand.
00:50The 14 Pro, it still feels good but it doesn't feel anywhere near like, it kind of cuts into
00:55the hand because it's kind of more boxy as you guys can see there and yeah, you'll notice
00:59it right off the rip.
01:01The iPhone 11 is just way more comfortable to hold here.
01:05So both of these phones have premium designs.
01:07They both are glass and metal designs.
01:10I do like the matte finish on the 14 Pro.
01:13It looks really nice.
01:14As you can see, it doesn't really pick up fingerprints and yeah, so materials on these
01:19two phones, they are still very high quality.
01:22Both phones are IP68 dust and water resistant.
01:25You'll notice the iPhone 11 is also noticeably lighter when you pick it up and then as you
01:32can see thickness, you can see the camera intrusion on the iPhone 14 Pro is just pretty
01:39massive.
01:40The cameras are just massive on this phone compared to the 11 here and you will notice
01:46that dual camera setup versus the triple camera setup as well which we will get into but as
01:51far as hardware, like I said, I really like the iPhone 11 still.
01:53It still looks really good and looks really modern.
01:56Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about the display.
01:58So you can see right off the rip, the iPhone 14 Pro has the new display and it's got the
02:04new punch hole or cut out on it and you still have the traditional notch on the iPhone 11
02:11here so definitely the big difference here is that the punch hole does not intrude on
02:18content as much as the notch, it's not as big or distracting.
02:22So I really like the new design on the display, I think it looks really good so that could
02:27be something that you might really like, everything just looks more immersive when you're watching
02:31videos and stuff like that, having those extra pixels and stuff like that and also it just
02:35looks a little bit more modern as well but that's not only the thing with the displays.
02:41So the iPhone 14 Pro also has a very bright display.
02:45It gets bright up to 2000 nits, which is pretty crazy.
02:49The iPhone 11 is only max brightness at 625 nits so when you're outdoors in direct sunlight,
02:55you will notice that difference there for sure.
02:58So I also want to talk about the screen quality.
03:01So the iPhone 11 still has a very good screen quality to me but when you are watching content,
03:08you will sort of notice the difference.
03:10So the iPhone 14 Pro does have an LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display.
03:16It's 120 hertz which you will notice in applications like Instagram when you're scrolling the web
03:21and stuff like that.
03:23You will notice just swiping and stuff like that that the 14 Pro is going to feel a little
03:27bit smoother because it's running at 120 hertz and it is an OLED display so colors and stuff
03:33are going to be better as well and it is a 6.1 inch display and it has a resolution of
03:401179 by 2556, 460 for the PPI.
03:44Now the iPhone does have a Retina IPS display so not quite as good as OLED in my opinion
03:52but like I said, the 11 still is a pretty good looking display and it is a 720p plus
03:56display so you do have a higher resolution on the 14 Pro with 326 for the PPI on the
04:0311.
04:04So as far as the display upgrade, I think it's a pretty good upgrade but if you're like
04:08not really display heavy, you probably won't care because the iPhone 11 is still really
04:14sharp, icons and everything look really sharp but like I said, I do enjoy the cutout on
04:20the 14 Pro and I do like having an OLED display, you're able to take advantage of things like
04:25the always on display as you guys can see on the 14 when you turn it off, it still stays
04:30on.
04:31You're able to do that with the OLED display so that might interest you as well too so
04:35that's definitely something to think about.
04:37Alright so here is the really interesting part so let's go ahead and talk about the
04:41speed on both of these phones and the software experience.
04:44So you virtually get the same software experience, both of these phones are running iOS 16.
04:50On the 14 Pro, you have the Apple A16 chip on here, no SD card support of course and
04:56then you have 128 gigs of internal storage and 6 gigs of RAM.
05:00I want to pull up the Geekbench scores for you guys so you guys can see what those look
05:06like.
05:07So you can see a pretty big difference as you can see especially with that multi-core
05:13score and then here are your Antutu benchmark scores as you can see.
05:19We're in the 625,000 range and then we're in 942,000 for the Antutu benchmark as well
05:27too.
05:29So how does just in general these phones run right?
05:34Do they run?
05:35Is the 11 lagging all over the place and stuff like that?
05:38The answer is no.
05:39The 11 is actually still very fast.
05:41When you're launching applications and stuff like that, the 14 Pro you can see just got
05:46in there extremely quick as you can see.
05:49You can see that difference there with app loading.
05:51Now, I don't think a normal person would really care about that.
05:54If you're really into smartphones and speed and stuff, maybe that would be a considerable
05:59amount of time for you.
06:01In the real world, it's not really, especially when you launch the web browser and stuff
06:06like that, it's really not that big of a difference here.
06:11So for speed, for the casual user, as you guys can see, again the 120Hz just makes it
06:20feel like it's a little bit smoother.
06:23But the 11 is still very much fast and capable.
06:25You guys can see I'm swiping, it's not lagging or anything like that.
06:29It's very much able to keep up with the 14 Pro here.
06:34So like I said, you are getting a very nice speed update, but for the casual or average
06:40person it's not going to be that big of a deal.
06:42Let's go ahead and launch PUBG, a heavier game, and see if we can notice a big difference
06:45here.
06:51Alright, 14 Pro jumps out ahead.
06:59Oh, the iPhone 11 actually beat it, what?
07:05Alright, so the iPhone 11 actually won that.
07:10That was funny.
07:11Alright, so when it comes to graphic performance, you will also be surprised to see that you
07:19have pretty much the same settings for PUBG HDR Extreme.
07:22Now the 14 Pro is able to run at 90 frames, I'm sure it'll be updated in a while for this
07:29phone.
07:30Just give it a minute.
07:31You do have the 90 frames option.
07:34As far as your gaming performance here, it's going to be pretty smooth.
07:38Now, yes, that extra power, if you are somebody that is an extreme gamer, right, like you
07:44play Genshin and you play these really demanding games, yes, you will notice less frame drops
07:49and stuff like that, of course, because you just have more power on the 14 Pro.
07:55But if you find yourself a more casual gamer, then, you know, the iPhone 11 is going to
08:02be fine.
08:03Not only is the iPhone 11 extremely good for gaming, but it's also a very cheap phone for
08:09gaming as well, too, to game at some pretty high settings here.
08:12So you can see it's very smooth playing HDR Extreme here.
08:16We're definitely at 60 frames, 14 Pro, you know, very smooth as well, too.
08:21But like I said, one of the benefits with the 14 Pro is that it will be able to take
08:24advantage of the 90 frames option as well.
08:27So like I said, if you're an extreme gamer, I think, you know, having the extra frame
08:32rates and the extra power might be beneficial for you.
08:35Talking about the additional features, so like I said, both IP68, both of these phones
08:40have the NFC or Apple Pay, and they both have stereo speakers.
08:44And let's go ahead and actually do a side-by-side comparison, see if we can notice a difference
08:50with the speaker quality here.
08:54We'll start with the 14.
09:24Yeah, the 14 Pro's speakers are just a little bit thumpier, a little bit louder than the
09:2911.
09:31Yeah, definitely just hits harder overall.
09:36So you are getting a kind of a nice speaker upgrade here, not by much, but it is noticeable.
09:43Also the dynamic island thing, right?
09:47So you do have this, which is basically like a really cool way to multitask.
09:51So if I go ahead and play this song real quick here, you guys can see it pops up right there.
09:57So it's able to do like, it's sort of like quick multitasking and stuff like that.
10:01And you can see, like if I start running the timer or something like that, or if I just
10:07quick hold it, I can access widgets and stuff like that.
10:11Or so it's a nice little thing to have for sure, to be able to app switch very quickly
10:17as well.
10:18So that's definitely one thing that you might like as well.
10:22All right, I'm going to show you guys the side-by-side stills, but let's talk about
10:26the camera specs.
10:28So the 14 Pro, it does have the new 48 megapixel standard lens on here, and it also has a 12
10:35megapixel telephoto, that's 3x optical zoom.
10:38And then you have a 12 megapixel ultra wide on here.
10:40It shoots in 4K 24 through 60.
10:43And then you also have a 12 megapixel selfie cam on here as well that's been updated that
10:48shoots in 4K 24 through 60 FPS as well.
10:54You do have some software that you can take advantage of that you won't find in the 11.
11:00So you don't have any type of cinematic mode on the 11 as well too.
11:04And then the iPhone does have a macro mode, the 14 Pro, it does have a macro mode as well,
11:09which the 11 lacks.
11:11And the 11 does lack that telephoto lens.
11:13Now the 11 does have the dual camera setup, 12 megapixel standard, 12 megapixel telephoto.
11:18It can shoot in 4K 60 as well.
11:21And that's also, it can shoot all the way down to 24 frames.
11:25And then you have a 12 megapixel selfie cam on here that shoots in 4K 24 through 60.
11:30So check out these side by side stills.
11:32Let me know, do you guys see a significant upgrade as far as image quality?
12:18All right guys, here's the video on the 14 Pro, 0.5.
12:41And then we're also able to do our 2X and even our 3X.
12:48All right guys, here is the video on the iPhone 11.
13:09All right guys, let's talk about battery life here.
13:26So battery life is going to be a pretty nice upgrade for you if you get a 14 Pro.
13:32So you do have a 3,200 milliamp battery, it has the fast charging, you also have the MagSafe
13:38wireless charging, and also the just standard wireless charging as well.
13:43With the iPhone 11, you do have a 3,110 milliamp battery on here, 18 watt charging with the
13:49wireless charging as well.
13:51So you can see the battery is not that big of a difference in terms of size, but with
13:55the new chip, Apple is able to optimize and it's just able to drain less power with the
14:01newer chips.
14:03So you can easily squeeze at least a day and a half out of the 14 Pro.
14:09I can still get around six hours of screen on time on my iPhone 11 with, let's just check
14:15the battery health, because most of the time you're going to be buying these phones, they're
14:19not going to be new.
14:21So 87% battery health and I'm still able to get six hours of screen on time.
14:25So the iPhone 11 does do a good job, but if you do want that extra battery life, definitely
14:30the 14 Pro is going to give you that.
14:34So basically, this upgrade comes down to, I would say around two things for like the
14:39average person.
14:40Do you find the cameras to be appealing to you?
14:44Do you like the camera upgrade, having the extra camera or the macro camera?
14:49Did you think the shots were good enough to upgrade?
14:53Also do you like the screen upgrade?
14:55Having the OLED with the new screen design on here, the 120 hertz and stuff like that.
15:00Is that appealing to you?
15:01As far as speed, I think the iPhone 11 is still pretty fast.
15:05So I don't think the average person would mind when you go into application, it loads
15:09like a second later or something like that.
15:11I don't think most people care.
15:14So yeah, so it really does come down to those foreign factors.
15:17I actually think the 11 is still way more comfortable than the 14 Pro.
15:21And I think the 11 is going to have years, a few more years, at least maybe three, four
15:27years of software updates as well too.
15:30So be sure to let me know what you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
