00:00What's up guys, today we will be comparing the 8 Plus to the 14 Pro here, so you guys
00:06that are interested in upgrading your 8 Plus, are these upgrades going to be enough for
00:12you?
00:13So if you don't have an 8 Plus and you think about getting one, it's still an excellent
00:15phone, I have a lot of videos about it, and yeah, so you can pick this up for $250, 14
00:20Pro, and it's going to cost you $1,000.
00:23Let's go ahead and start off with the speed of these two phones.
00:26Are you getting a significant bump in speed and is it going to be noticeable in day-to-day
00:30use?
00:31Here is the Geekbench scores, you can see you get much higher scores in the single and
00:34multi-core scores here.
00:36Let's go ahead and see how this opens applications, how this translates, phone pretty close, music
00:45also very close, YouTube.
00:50Now there's also one thing you might notice about the speed, the 120 hertz does feel buttery
00:55smooth compared to the 60 hertz on the 8 Plus, 8 Plus is still very smooth as well,
01:01but you will notice that sort of scrolling, a smoothness.
01:06Let's go ahead and try, let's actually go ahead and try Subway Surf.
01:24So you guys can see kind of a difference there in terms of opening up video games and
01:30stuff like that.
01:34Let's go ahead and do something even heavier like PUBG.
01:38Now you will notice a pretty big jump in gaming performance on here, so you will get much
01:44better settings.
01:46So if you are somebody that plays a lot of games, you will really like this new chip
01:49upgrade because you will be able to, again, play at much higher settings.
01:53You can see we're already in PUBG, and we're in PUBG on the 8 Plus, not too bad.
02:03So here is the sort of difference here, so on the 8 Plus, it still does a pretty decent
02:08job at gaming, don't get me wrong, but we can do Smooth Extreme, but we can do HDR Ultra.
02:14So you can see that sort of difference on the 14 Pro, we're able to take advantage of
02:21higher graphics, we can do HDR Extreme and then Ultra HD.
02:28So like I said, you are going to get, you know, just a smoother experience overall with
02:33your gaming performance.
02:34So if you are somebody that is kind of like a hardcore gamer, you would definitely notice
02:39that, especially with games like Genshin Impact, games that are very demanding, you will notice.
02:46If you're not really into games, the 8 Plus still does a pretty good job, as you can see.
02:51Even playing games like PUBG, you can see a little bit of lag there, but mostly, this
02:57phone is pretty smooth for the most part, I do have a gaming test on this phone.
03:03It can play this game at 60 frames on Smooth very easily, so again, games like Subway Surf,
03:09you know, PUBG, stuff like that, it can still do a good job, but if you're really into games,
03:14you'll like this upgrade.
03:15Alright, let's go ahead and talk about this display upgrade, so as you can see, very different
03:19looking displays here.
03:21One thing I like about the 8 Plus is that there is no notch or anything on the screen,
03:26which is really nice, I always appreciate that with this phone, just watching YouTube
03:30videos without the notch is always nice, but you do get a, you know, a much better display
03:36on the 14 Pro.
03:38It does have a 6.1 inch LTPO Super Retina OLED display, and it is 120Hz HDR, and it's
03:45actually one of the brightest phones you can get right now at 2,000 nits peak brightness,
03:49so outdoors, it's going to be much brighter than the 8 Plus, and then it is also a 1080p
03:54plus resolution, 460 for the PPI.
03:58The 8 Plus, it does have a 5.5 inch display, so it's actually a smaller display, and then
04:04it's 1080p, 440 for the PPI, and it's an IPS LCD display at 625 nits peak brightness, and
04:12yes, you can definitely tell the difference, obviously, 8 Plus with just much bigger bezels
04:17and stuff like that.
04:19Also, I do really like having this home button on the 8 Plus, it just feels really nice still,
04:25so you might be a fan, if you're a fan of the home button, you probably want to look
04:28for like the iPhone SE, or something like that, but as you can see, overall, just very
04:34slim bezels, overall, more modern design with the pill-shaped cutout on the 14 Pro, so overall,
04:41I think it's a pretty good upgrade as far as the display, it's much brighter, it's OLED
04:45instead of IPS, you got slimmer bezels, and it's 120 hertz, so it just feels super smooth
04:53as well too, so definitely a pretty good display upgrade.
04:56How about the build quality on both of these phones, the 8 Plus is very comfortable to
05:00hold, I would even say more comfortable than the 14 Pro, because it has those smooth edges
05:05and it just feels better than the sharper edges on the 14, for sure.
05:11Both these phones have IP ratings, so you can get them wet, they won't break, and you
05:15do have a matte finish on the 14 Pro, which looks really nice, you just have a glossy
05:20finish on the 8 Plus, and as far as the size, as you can see, the 8 Plus is a much bigger
05:28phone or taller phone, but the 14 Pro is definitely thicker, and it's definitely heavier than
05:34the 14 Pro, you can see those two different camera designs as well too, you have a dual
05:38camera versus the triple camera setup, which we will talk about, so for the build quality,
05:44they both actually still feel very premium in the hand still, and like I said, one of
05:48the big differences is the face ID versus the touch ID, which is really nice, so having
05:55that physical home button that you can click, some of you guys might miss it, but I think
06:00you'll get used to the swipe gestures pretty easily, it just depends on the person.
06:04Also, let's go ahead and talk about the speakers, and let's see which speaker sounds the best
06:12here, so we'll go ahead, launch up a YouTube video, we'll start with the 8 Plus.
06:358 Plus, very good speaker quality, very loud, good bass.
06:53So you do have a pretty nice speaker upgrade with the 14 Pro, it is louder and does have
06:58a bit more bass to it as well.
07:05Yeah, almost makes the 8 Plus sound kind of flat in comparison, especially when it comes
07:11to the bass, so you are getting a very nice speaker upgrade here.
07:16Alright, so if you guys are into cameras, you are getting a pretty good camera upgrade
07:20here, so with the 14 Pro, you're getting the extra lens, so the 14 Pro has a 48 megapixel
07:27standard, 12 megapixel telephoto with 3x optical, and then a 12 megapixel ultra wide, it also
07:33has a macro mode, and you also now get the cinematic mode as well too on this phone,
07:39and then it can shoot in 4K 60, and then you have a 12 megapixel selfie that also shoots
07:44in 4K 60 as well.
07:46The 8 Plus, it does have a dual camera setup, it's a 12 megapixel standard, and it also
07:52has a 12 megapixel telephoto that does 2x optical zoom on here, and then you have 4K
07:5760 as well, with a 7 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 1080p 30.
08:03I'm gonna show you guys these side by side stills, let me know, do you guys see the camera
08:07improvement?
08:07I do think there is definitely an improvement, but is it significant?
08:11Is it worth the upgrade?
08:13Be sure to let me know.
09:028 Plus.
09:33Alright guys, here is the iPhone, video quality here, 2x, 3x, wow look at that, it's pretty
09:52nice, 0.6.
09:54Now as far as the battery experience on both of these phones, you actually will be surprised,
09:59even though my 8 Plus is refurbished, the battery health on here is 100% actually,
10:06oh wow, it's 100% battery health, so this phone easily can get me actually 6 hours of
10:12screen on time, which is pretty crazy, so this phone's battery life is actually really
10:16not that bad, but the 14 Pro is gonna have better battery life than the 8 Plus, so I
10:22the 14 Pro is gonna have better battery life just because of the chip optimization and
10:27stuff like that, so you will get better battery life, you will notice a better screen on time
10:31with the 14 Pro, you can easily get up to 8 hours of screen on time with this phone
10:37depending on how you're using it, but you also have wireless charging on both of these
10:42phones as well too, but you do get that MagSafe wireless charging on the 14 Pro, so if you're
10:49interested in that sort of thing here, and also you can get those accessories, those
10:54MagSafe accessories, so overall I think it's a pretty solid upgrade, I think the biggest
11:00upgrade probably here would be the cameras, if you're not really into the cameras and
11:04taking photos, then you could probably hold on to your 8 Plus for another year, the screen
11:09also to me is just much better, it's OLED, like I said 120Hz, it's got slimmer bezels,
11:15just looks more modern, also the chip is just much faster, so if you're into gaming
11:21and stuff like that, you will notice that difference, and overall, I wouldn't say overall
11:26just app opening and stuff like that, the 8 Plus is still pretty smooth, but I think
11:29gaming you will feel that difference immediately if you play a lot of games, so overall in
11:35general it's a pretty good upgrade across the board, so be sure to let me know what
11:39you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
