00:00Yo what's up guys, today we're gonna be checking out the Galaxy S22 Plus versus the S23 Plus.
00:07So this is a very interesting comparison, a lot of people wanted to see this one here
00:13and for good reasons.
00:16These are very interesting phones, some of the best phones that you can get in the used
00:20refurbished marketplace.
00:21Now the price difference here, so again the S23 gonna be around $459 at it's lowest, around
00:29that $500 price range.
00:31Now the S22 Plus you can actually find for about $350, sometimes you can see like $300
00:38right here.
00:39So there is pretty much, you can expect a $200 to $150 difference with these phones.
00:47Which is definitely a big deal when you are on a budget.
00:50So let's go ahead and get into it and see what is the overall upgrades here and is it
00:56worth, which one is worth getting.
00:58Alright so hardware wise, you can see they both look pretty similar, they both have the
01:02glass metal design, they're both IP68 dust and water resistant.
01:06What you will notice here, the biggest change is really the camera cutout with the hardware
01:11here.
01:12The S23 has the more, you know, I guess you could say modern design.
01:18But this still looks really good, I think it still, it doesn't look old at all.
01:23It just has the classic Samsung cutout here that a lot of people like.
01:27But now you have this design where they just basically removed it right.
01:31But pretty much the same in terms of how they feel, they're both rounded so they feel really
01:37good in the hand as well too.
01:39And yeah, no real difference here when it comes to the overall hardware here.
01:45And it's pretty much the exact same thing when we talk about the displays.
01:49You're looking at pretty much the exact same display.
01:52Both phones have the Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz HDR10+.
01:56Both phones have 1750 nits peak brightness, they're both 6.6 inches.
02:02They're both 1080p and they both pretty much have the same PPI, 393.
02:07And yeah, there's really no difference.
02:08I think the difference here is that the S23 Plus has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and the S22
02:16Plus has the Gorilla Glass Victus Plus.
02:20Basically, they are the same display guys.
02:24They both look really good guys.
02:26They do a fantastic job outdoors as well too in direct sunlight so that's not an issue.
02:31Both have really slim bezels as well.
02:34And yeah, like I said, the displays are pretty much identical so there's going to be no real
02:38display difference here when it comes to that.
02:41And again, they're both flat.
02:42They both have the same screen-to-body ratio I believe.
02:48Alright, so now we get to an actual difference here is the processor.
02:52So on the S23 Plus we do have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and then we have the Snapdragon 8
02:58Gen 1 on the S22 here.
03:01So the base configurations, this is 256 gigs and 8 gigs of RAM and this one is 128 gigs
03:09and 8 gigs of RAM.
03:10So as you can see, it does beat it in the single and multi-core score.
03:15And then when we pull up 3DMark, I ran some tests so you guys can see.
03:22Here are the 3DMark tests.
03:24You guys can see the FPS.
03:27And then when we come down here, you can see the temperature is much cooler on the S23
03:35here you can see as well, battery and frames per second.
03:40So overall performance wise, the S23 is going to be a cooler device and you are going to
03:46get slightly better performance.
03:48But I would say, and I'll bring this up when we get to PUBG here, but here is another test
03:56that I ran.
03:57It was a longer test and you guys can see the temperature difference as well too.
04:02There's a clear temperature difference.
04:04The S23 Plus doesn't get as hot.
04:07And then you can see the battery life right here from 47% to 39%, from 38% to 28%.
04:15So you guys can see those tests and let's go ahead and bring up PUBG.
04:21Alright, so when it comes to gaming performance, the gaming performance here is going to be
04:25pretty similar if you are a casual gamer.
04:28Where you will notice the actual difference here is I would say if you're a little bit
04:33more of a hardcore gamer.
04:34Because again, the S23 Plus doesn't heat up as much and then for right now it does have
04:39slightly better settings in PUBG.
04:42The S22 Plus it only has the 90 frames and then for the S23 it does have the 120 frames.
04:50So you have better settings for right now.
04:53The S22 could get the update, we just don't know when.
04:57But I would say if you're somebody who's really into playing games, Genshin, Fortnite, these
05:02games that require quite a bit of power, then you would be pretty good with the S23 Plus
05:10because it's a really efficient chipset.
05:14But I would say for me, if you're playing a match or two, the S22 Plus is a really good
05:19deal considering that you get really good graphics settings and it is also very fast
05:24as well too.
05:26Now as far as the overall software experience, you're pretty much getting the same software
05:31experience.
05:32I think the S23, the only difference is you have the circle to search on here.
05:41Not circle to search, but you have the hold down for slow motion video.
05:48You don't have that on the S22, but you have all of the rest of the AI features on the
05:53S22.
05:55That's pretty much it.
05:57You're going to get slightly more, I think a year of extra software updates because obviously
06:04it's a year older phone.
06:07Not a big deal when it comes to the overall software experience, it's virtually the same
06:11experience.
06:12As far as biometrics and stuff like that, they are essentially the same as well.
06:18The ultrasonic, the fingerprint scanner works flawlessly on both of these phones and then
06:23face unlock works really well on both of these phones as well too.
06:27Like I said, they have essentially the same features.
06:30Let's see if we can spot a speaker difference here with these two phones.
06:34We'll start with the S23.
06:57So, there is a slight difference here.
07:11The S23 Plus does have slightly a little bit more bass, so it does give overall a fuller
07:16sound.
07:17The S22 Plus doesn't sound terrible, it sounds decent, but you definitely can spot the bass
07:23upgrade, which overall is going to make it sound better.
07:26Alright, so let's talk about the cameras here.
07:29You should be able to spot the difference.
07:30I kind of noticed the difference with the 3x or the telephoto.
07:35I noticed that was kind of like the upgrade, but let me know what you guys think of the
07:39photos here.
07:40So, on the S23 here, we do have a 50 megapixel standard, 10 megapixel telephoto, 3x optical,
07:4712 megapixel ultra-wide, it shoots in 8K 24 and 30 with a 12 megapixel selfie that shoots
07:54in 4K 30 and 60.
07:56Now, the S22 pretty much has kind of the same setup.
07:59It's a 50 megapixel standard, 10 megapixel telephoto, 3x, 12 megapixel ultra-wide.
08:05This one shoots in 8K 24, so there's no 8K 30 on here.
08:09And you have a 10 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K 60 as well too.
08:14They both do max zoom up to 30x as well.

09:51Alright, so let's discuss the battery situation here.
09:54So, the S23 Plus has a slightly bigger battery at 4700 milliamps, has 45 watt charging, wireless
10:02and reverse wireless charging.
10:04The S22 Plus has a 4500 milliamp hour battery, 45 watt charging, wireless and reverse wireless
10:11charging.
10:12Yes, the S23 Plus does have better battery life, and that's not to say that the S22 Plus
10:18has bad battery life.
10:20Battery life is actually pretty decent on the S22 Plus.
10:23It's not bad at all, actually.
10:25But yeah, you will get better screen-on time with the S23, and then you also get better
10:31standby time.
10:32It's simply because of the slightly bigger battery and better chip efficiency.
10:37But yeah, so, like I said, it's not a crazy upgrade here.
10:42It's just a very slight, minute thing Samsung fixed with this upgrade.
10:47It really comes down to what people really think about the slight camera improvement,
10:54as well as the processor.
10:56Like I said, really to make the move to get the S23 Plus, you would really have to be
11:01a gamer.
11:02Like, you would really have to seriously play games.
11:04If you don't play games, you really don't need to spend the extra $150, the $200 to
11:09get the, you know, you could just get the S22 Plus and be perfectly fine, honestly.
11:14They're pretty much doing the same thing.
11:16But like I said, to sum it up, both phones are extremely close to each other.
11:21It's not that they're very minute upgrades here.
11:24If you're a gamer, you get this phone.
11:26You spend the extra money, definitely.
11:28If you're not, just get the S22 Plus.
11:30You save money as well.
11:31You save about $200, honestly.
