00:00What's up guys, so we are wrapping up these comparisons and we got the note 9 versus the s24 ultra
00:07I think I've got most of them. So let me know if I'm missing one
00:11But yeah, so let's go ahead and get into this one
00:13This is what a lot of people wanted to see if you're still holding on to your note 9
00:17This is what I would call and a pretty good upgrade for the most part
00:21Yes, there's gonna be some downgrades
00:23But I think overall this is what you would call an upgrade a lot of the phones that we've seen I would consider
00:29You know some of them to be updates and not necessarily upgrades
00:33Alright, so let's go ahead and dive into this as you can see as far as the design
00:37You can just see two massively different looking phones here the s24 just looking like a much newer phone, of course
00:44And yeah, so there's a lot to like about the s24 design
00:48Actually, the more I've been using it. It's got this matte finish as compared to the glossy finish on the note 9
00:54It's also titanium as well, too
00:56So it is kind of light for such a big, you know phone and then also you do have you know
01:03IP 68 dust and water resistant. They both have the they both have IP 68
01:08They both have the built-in s-pen as well to the s-pen on the s24 is going to be slightly
01:14Faster in mass as well to which basically means it's just a little bit more accurate and it's definitely a slightly taller phone

01:24Also a little bit thicker as well, too
01:26And then of course with the note 9 you have a physical fingerprint scanner on the back
01:33which is which is nice, which I've always really like these because of how fast they are just getting into the phone and
01:39Yeah, there's not too much of a you know, a hardware difference for the most part also on the note 9
01:44You'll notice the headphone jack, which is a thing that a lot of people like so you will be losing that
01:49Of course, and you're gonna be also losing
01:52SD card support as well, too
01:54If you you know upgrade to the the s24
01:57So you are losing like I said, you're losing quite a bit depending on if you actually use those things or not
02:02All right. Let's talk about the display upgrade here
02:05There's a pretty big display upgrade but looking at these two phones head-to-head
02:08It just gives you appreciation for how ahead Samsung was in terms of display
02:15Design and also just display quality. They were just extremely ahead of everybody
02:20So the note 9 has a 6.4 inch display, which is actually pretty small by today's standard
02:26It's actually kind of small compared to the the s24. It's a Super AMOLED HDR 10

02:36So you can see it has no punch hole as well, too
02:39which is something that I really appreciate Samsung waited for the notch or not the notch, but the punch hole and
02:45Yeah, so the s24 has a 6.8 inch display so it's a much bigger phone dynamic LTPO AMOLED display
02:53It's a 120 Hertz HDR 10 plus it has a max brightness of 2600 nits
02:58So basically it's much brighter than the note 9 in direct sunlight. It's also 1440p

03:06So the display upgrade here is obviously slimmer bezels as well, too
03:10So you get a much much slimmer bezels and also again a bigger display and it's also much brighter in direct sunlight now
03:17The note 9's vividness is actually pretty good still now Samsung's supposed to fix this
03:22But even if they did fix it in general, it's still like a really nice display
03:27Very vivid very high PPI and I'm just not that nice saturated look that we've we've come to know and love from Samsung
03:34But I would say though the big display upgrade here is probably the 120 Hertz and the direct
03:40You know sunlight as far as the display getting brighter and it's easier to see
03:45Besides that that's pretty much it resolution wise. You can't really tell the difference from these two phones. They both look really good the
03:54S24 does have HDR 10 plus instead of HDR 10 as well
03:57But like I said the the average person you're gonna notice these super slim bezels on here as well
04:03So that'll that's something I'll pop out if you outdoors a lot
04:06You'll appreciate the s24 and also 120 Hertz
04:09It is gonna feel a much smoother when you're scrolling swiping or whatever you're doing
04:14Alright, as you guys can see here are the Geekbench scores. You can see a massive difference
04:20You know with the s24 you're obviously getting a much more powerful device CPU wise and GPU wise
04:27So let's just go over the specs a little bit here. So with the s24 you're running Android 14
04:32It will get seven years of majorless updates as well snapdragon 8 gen 3
04:37256 gigs of internal storage 12 gigs of RAM on the base
04:40This is the 512 gig model and on the note 9 it had it last update with Android 10
04:47And then it is running the snapdragon 845 and then it does have again micro SD card
04:53128 gigs of internal storage
04:556 gigs of RAM and yeah, you're gonna get a faster device now
04:59I wouldn't necessarily say the note 9 is even slow
05:03For the most part, I think it's still somewhat, you know, somewhat speedy actually

05:11Think when it comes to opening application and stuff, you might not notice that much of a difference. I think
05:19Like I think with games there might be a definitely a little bit of a difference in loading times
05:24Like you can see right there. We're already in the game plan
05:27But it's not too slow
05:30And once we get into like stuff like YouTube and stuff like that
05:34You know, these older flagships are still pretty fast. You actually beat a surprise. Where's the YouTube app?

05:48So you guys can see that now right there wasn't that big of a difference but when you start scrolling you'll notice
05:54Immediately you see how we get a little bit of jerkiness on the note 9. It's really really smooth
06:00Especially with 120 Hertz
06:03Super super smooth. So that's those are the things that you will notice if you do
06:08Decide to upgrade and not only you're just gonna have newer software as well, too
06:12But it's not like a like a dramatic thing like you still have decks on here secure folders
06:17There's a lot of essential stuff on the note 9 though
06:20Surprisingly, but again seven years from now. It'll be dramatically a different. I'm sure when you I
06:26Already not even seven probably like just a couple of years for two more years
06:31You'll see like more big changes and stuff like that, but it's still a lot of essential stuff
06:36So I think it's still a lot of fun. I think it's still a lot of fun
06:40You'll see like more big changes with the software as far as AI goes which I'm not gonna go over all the AI features
06:48But the AI stuff is very cool
06:50There's a ton of AI stuff with the editor Samsung Internet of the translation stuff
06:56It's probably the gonna be the most useful thing for a lot of people a lot of interpretation and stuff like that
07:01The photo editor, like I said, I think it needs some work, but still very cool
07:05Yeah, so the note 9 definitely not a slow phone
07:10but um
07:11Yeah, if you'll definitely notice the the speed difference for sure and also gaming performance if you're a gamer again, you will notice
07:19Definitely improve performance here and a lot of it's gonna have to do with the high refresh rate
07:23being able to play like shooting games at 90 frames is definitely going to be really nice and
07:28Also, the s24 is definitely a cool device and the battery life is really good
07:33So it makes for the gaming experience to be
07:35Fairly good as well to the note 9 again, not a bad phone when it comes to casual gaming for sure
07:42It's surprisingly, you know still able to run games just fine
07:46It's not gonna run them at the you know, the highest and the best settings, of course
07:50But yeah, it's still definitely playable. See what settings we get for pub G here
07:55Yeah, we get extreme and then we get HDR ultra. Yeah, so again, it's not gonna give you that crazy good settings
08:02But as somebody who casually games you'll be you know, it's still good. But like I said, if you play a lot of games
08:08You'll notice a big difference and also just the battery life
08:12So if you do play games now do what I talk about the cameras here because there's a lot of versatility now with the s24
08:19A camera upgrade here. So I do think this is a pretty good camera upgrade
08:23Really when you consider just the versatility of the cameras now
08:27So you do have on the s24 a 200 megapixel standard a 50 megapixel
08:33Periscope telephoto that does have five times optical and then a 10 megapixel telephoto three times
08:39Optical zoom 12 megapixel ultra-wide you have the hundred times zoom and shoots an 8k 30 and then a 12 megapixel selfie
08:46That also shoots in 4k 60 and like I said, there's a lot to like about this upgrade here with the note 9
08:54You do have a 12 megapixel standard at 12 megapixel telephoto two times optical and then it shoots in 4k 60 and 8

11:55So, of course you do have much better speakers on the s24 they're much louder
12:00They're much cleaner sounding as well, too
12:02I think it is a pretty good speaker upgrade as well
12:05And also you will be coming from the physical finger fingerprint scanner on the back to the now ultrasonic fingerprint scanner
12:13It's really a personal preference which one you like you can still use face unlock
12:17but the iris scanner is going to be gone, of course, too, but yeah, the the
12:22Fingerprint scanner is definitely the in display one is definitely a little bit more. I guess modern feeling but again, that's a personal preference
12:29And lastly is going to be battery life. So the battery life experience is going to be fantastic on here with the
12:37S24 ultra you do have a 5,000 milliamp hour battery 45 watt charging
12:42It does have wireless and reverse wireless charging with the note 9 you'd have a much smaller battery at
12:484,000 milliamps and then it also has slower charging at 15 watts as well, too
12:52But it does have wireless charging on board. You're gonna get much much better battery life
12:58Something if that's something that concerns you with your note 9 you feel like the battery is subpar
13:03The s24 is definitely worth the upgrade for battery life because it is definitely a beast in that department
13:09So overall, of course, I think this is a fantastic upgrade, of course
13:12You're gonna be losing quite a bit like the headphone jack and the SD card support
13:18But you are gonna be gaining quite a bit a better display a much faster phone more years of software updates
13:24you also be gaining a much much better camera as well, too and
13:29Yeah, there's a there's a lot to like with the s24 for sure
