00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be taking a look at the Galaxy S24 Ultra in 2024, this mid-2024.
00:07And it's been a couple months since I've been using this phone, and this has been such an awesome experience.
00:13And honestly guys, this phone is just really, really almost close to perfect.
00:18There's a few things that I would like to see change, probably in the S25, but man, this has been such a great experience.
00:26So far, I really don't have any complaints about this phone.
00:30Now, the one thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was that, like, I was a fan of it, but the titanium design was just a little bit overrated.
00:42So it does make the phone a little bit lighter, of course.
00:46But from what I've been seeing online is that this does scratch kind of easier as well.
00:52So the first thing that I had to do was buy a case to put it on here.
00:57And sometimes if I'm in the house, I just kind of take the case off so you kind of get a feel for the phone.
01:02And then if you go out, you just put it back on.
01:04But yeah, I noticed, like, this thing, I haven't got any scratches, like any major scuffs and scratches on this one.
01:11But I've been seeing them online.
01:13Like, these are really easy to scratch as far as, like, you know, the titanium down here.
01:18But mine is in pretty good condition here.
01:21So, yeah, so design-wise, this phone looks excellent, feels really good.
01:27They really, like, squared off the design here as well on the sides here.
01:33So it is a little bit easier to hold.
01:35So it doesn't hit, like, the way you hold it is it doesn't poke into the palm as much.
01:42Because that was a big complaint with the S22, S23, which the S23 kind of, you know, they kind of solved that.
01:50But it was like, you notice it a lot with the S22 Ultra.
01:54But this one, it doesn't hit the palm as much depending on how you hold it.
01:58So if you do hold it like this because it's so squared, you know, you won't drop it as easy and it's not going to poke as much.
02:06So I think they did a nice cleanup job with the design.
02:09I think this is honestly the best it's going to get.
02:12This is the most comfortable this is going to get.
02:15The S Pen on here is extremely accurate as well.
02:20And this phone is, of course, IP68 dust and water resistant.
02:23I don't really use the S Pen.
02:25I always get a lot of questions about it.
02:27I feel like, you know, I use it if I'm going to take groceries and stuff like that.
02:33It's extremely accurate.
02:34So that's one thing that I've noticed.
02:36So if you're somebody who does digital artwork, like, this thing is very, very accurate.
02:41So you can really do, you know, real digital artwork on this phone if you're a digital artist.
02:47And, yeah, it's just extremely accurate.
02:50Even if you're a content creator, I still think this is a really awesome phone because it's Bluetooth so you have a distance.
02:57You can take pictures from a distance and you can record from a distance.
03:01And it just makes your, you know, filming process easy if you're like a one-man show, right?
03:06So, yeah, I absolutely love the hardware on this phone.
03:10I think it looks really good.
03:11Like I said, the titanium did make the device a little bit lighter so it's, you know, overall easier to hold as well too.
03:17Got this really nice matte finish.
03:19I do like the color choices this year as well.
03:22So, yeah, so hardware-wise, really good for a Samsung here.
03:27Now I want to talk about the display here.
03:29So this is really one of the best displays you can get.
03:33It's a 6.8-inch dynamic AMOLED display.
03:35It's LTPO, 120 Hz HDR10+, 2600 nits peak brightness, 1440p, 505 for the PPI.
03:44I really enjoyed the display as always.
03:47It's a very colorful panel now that Samsung fixed the display issue where it wasn't really as vibrant as the older Samsung displays.
03:56And it's a completely flat panel which a lot of people liked.
04:00I really like the S23's slightly curved display.
04:03I think it made it look a little bit more premium to me.
04:06And it gave you kind of that more illusion of, you know, a full screen.
04:11But, yeah, this looks really good.
04:13A lot of people like it.
04:14It's easier to put screen protectors on.
04:16So I think the next logical thing for Samsung to do with this display, they can't really do much.
04:20I mean there's only two options.
04:22They can bump the resolution up to 4K or they could introduce 144 Hz.
04:28I think that would be probably the most realistic.
04:31I don't really see them going to 4K display.
04:34Like I said, it's possible.
04:36But, yeah, I do see one of those two things happening.
04:40So, yeah, so display as of right now, it's a gorgeous display.
04:43Looks really good.
04:45A lot of people like the display.
04:47Yeah, so I have no issues at all.
04:49Max brightness is awesome as well.
04:50You can easily see this thing outdoors, no problem.
04:53So, yeah, a very, very awesome display.
04:56Now, one of the things I'm starting to notice that's setting Samsung apart from everyone else
05:01is that the work that they've put into One UI.
05:05So it is really paying off because this has really become really a power user phone,
05:10especially with the addition of Good Lock.
05:13And honestly, you know, all Android phones are really, you know, they're power user phones.
05:17You can really do a lot since it's open source and you can just kind of make it how you want
05:22and put a lot of stuff on here.
05:24But I think Samsung makes it really easy to do with Good Lock.
05:28And also Samsung desktop support is really good as well.
05:33I really enjoy using it.
05:35And then the One UI software, I think Samsung for right now has the best AI software on Android as far as,
05:43well, you can argue, you know, Google has really good AI software too,
05:46but this is really good stuff, guys.
05:49And I think it's only going to get better, like, you know, with Android 15.
05:53I'd like to see what they introduce with One UI 7.
05:56But I don't use a lot of the AI stuff, like a lot of the live translation and stuff, that's really cool,
06:02you know, the translation doing phone calls.
06:05The thing that I use actually the most is probably the circle to search.
06:08But a lot of this stuff is, you know, a lot of the photo editing stuff, moving images and stuff around.
06:14But I really enjoy the circle to search, just taking pictures of stuff and being able to circle and find,
06:20you know, even just if I see somebody's wallpaper on YouTube,
06:22just take a screenshot or circle to search and find that wallpaper.
06:27It is really, really helpful.
06:28So I like the AI stuff.
06:30It's only going to get better from here.
06:32I think that's like the main thing I look forward to is that the AI is going to be a part,
06:37a big deal when it comes to, you know, the upcoming Galaxy S25, 26.
06:43I think the AI is going to play a crucial part in the experience.
06:47Let's talk about performance on this phone.
06:49It has been a really good experience.
06:52So you have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
06:54This is a 512 gig and 12 gigabytes of RAM version.
06:59The standard version is 256 gigs and 12 gigs of RAM.
07:04But for a phone that costs over $1,000, of course, it's going to have excellent performance here.
07:09Now, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 does a fantastic job here.
07:13And, yeah, I have no issues with this phone performance-wise.
07:17You know, Call of Duty, PUBG, whatever you throw at it, you'll have a really great gaming experience.
07:21Now, the interesting thing about buying an S24 and S23 is that you get seven years of major OS updates.
07:30So Samsung promised seven years.
07:32So this is a phone that if you do decide to upgrade to the S24 or S23 or something like that,
07:37if you have a much older Galaxy phone, you really don't have to update for a very, very long time.
07:43And you guys can see on my channel, you guys can see, look at the Note 10 Plus video.
07:48Look at the Note 20 Ultra videos.
07:50You really don't have to upgrade those phones.
07:52So you can already, you know, you can just imagine, like, this phone, you probably would never have to upgrade.
07:57You can probably keep this phone for the next 10 years, honestly.
08:00So performance-wise, this is a beast of a phone.
08:03It doesn't really get warm too much at all.
08:05Samsung has done a fantastic job with the cooling on here as well, too.
08:10So, yeah, so my experience, I've just had a fantastic time.
08:13Whether you're video recording, gaming, doing any type of heavy activity,
08:17this is going to give you a really, really good performance.
08:20Now, let's check out these speakers at max volume.
08:40So you guys can hear that top speaker putting in quite a bit of work, which is really impressive.
08:45These have really good speakers.
08:47Samsung did a fantastic job.
08:49They really stepped the speaker game up with the S23 Ultra,
08:52and then this one pretty much sounds, you know, pretty similar.
08:56But, yeah, the speakers are really good.
08:58Great amount of bass.
08:59They get very loud.
09:00No distortion at max volume.
09:02Just excellent sounding speakers, so I really like that.
09:05Of course, the fingerprint scanner has not changed at all.
09:07It's still extremely fast, the ultrasonic, so I really like that.
09:11But, yeah, so overall, biometrics, speakers, everything really solid on this phone.
09:17All right, so let's talk about the cameras on the S24 here.
09:22These cameras are excellent, right?
09:25They take great photos.
09:27To me, Samsung is probably going to really focus on the cameras more.
09:33With the S24, I would like to see the actual video be more on par with, like, the iPhone.
09:40A lot of people consider the iPhone the best video, so I think they're going to improve video.
09:45But as far as pictures, these take fantastic pictures,
09:48and it's still, in my opinion, the best well-rounded camera system.
09:52So you guys know I really love the Pixel 8 Pro.
09:55I really love the still images.
09:57I really like the video on the iPhone.
09:59But the Galaxy just has the whole package, right?
10:02You have really good video.
10:04You also have really good stills.
10:06But you also have really good zoom photography,
10:09which, you know, the iPhone and Pixel just don't have.
10:14I think they don't have—it's just not as good, right?
10:17But, yeah, the zoom photography is really amazing on here.
10:21Of course, you've got the 100x zoom and stuff,
10:23but I'm just saying, like, the 10x, 30x,
10:26you can get some really good zoom shots on the S23.
10:29It's really, really impressive.
10:31So I think Samsung overall just has probably one of the best camera systems
10:36when it comes to, like, everything being considered, right?
10:39But the specs, you have a 200-megapixel standard.
10:42You have a 10-megapixel telephoto 3x optical.
10:45And then a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto with 5x optical.
10:49And then a 12-megapixel ultrawide.
10:51You have 8K 24.
10:54You have 8K 24 in 30 video with a 12-megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K 60.
11:01I'm probably thinking they'll bring 8K to the front camera.
11:04It's possible.
11:06But, yeah, the camera system is awesome, guys.
11:09I have zero complaints.
11:11Everything looks solid on here from video to stills to nighttime photography, whatever.
11:16So it's just a really, really good camera system.
11:19All right, so the battery life on the S24 is excellent.
11:22It is really, really good.
11:24So we're hearing rumors that Samsung might add an extra 500 milliamps to it.
11:30So it's at 5,000.
11:32So it would be 5,500, which will probably give it a little bit better battery life.
11:37But, honestly, the battery life is really good right now.
11:40Basically, what I would like to see instead of them adding 500 milliamps
11:44is actually a little bit better, faster charging.
11:48So once you start dealing with the Xiaomi phones, like the Xiaomi 14 I brought on,
11:54once you have faster charging, because this only has 45-watt charging,
11:58you start to notice that this charges.
12:00It doesn't charge slow, but you will notice a difference
12:03between some charging at 120 watts versus 45 watts.
12:08So I would like to see an improvement there.
12:10Wireless charging is good.
12:12They can improve that to be able to charge a little bit faster.
12:16And reverse wireless charging is on board on here.
12:19But battery life is excellent. Screen-on time is excellent.
12:22This is not a phone that you have to think about battery life.
12:24If you charge it up, even if you charge it up to 80 percent,
12:28because that's what I like to do, charge it up to 80 percent,
12:30you still get a full day's battery life, if not a little bit more.
12:34So you're still getting excellent battery life with this phone.
12:36So, yeah, Samsung, just an impressive device here.
12:40They really nailed it.
12:42And I want to know, what do you guys don't like about this phone?
