00:00Let's talk about the Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign in the country.
00:04We are joined by Director Derek Arion, the Chief PIO of PIDEA.
00:09Good afternoon, sir.
00:13Good afternoon, ma'am. On behalf of Director General Mauro Virgilio Lazo,
00:17good afternoon to all the viewers and listeners.
00:22Overall, what is the significance of the government's anti-Illegal Drug Campaign
00:28under the Marcos administration?
00:30And can we also identify what kind of illegal drugs are the anti-Illegal Drug Campaigns?
00:39Yes, ma'am.
00:40Reckoning from the start of the administration of President Ferdinand Romualdo Marcos Jr.,
00:45which is July 1 of 2022,
00:47and based on data ending September 30, 2024,
00:52the total number of drug users is 49.82 billion pesos worth of illegal drugs.
01:02This is broken down into the following,
01:05methamphetamine, hydrochloride, or shabu at 6,481.16 kilograms.
01:12We also have 75.69 kilograms of cocaine.
01:16We have 115,081 pieces of ecstasy and 5,628.8 kilograms of marijuana, ma'am.
01:28That is the total of volume and value of dangerous drugs confiscated under the Marcos administration.
01:37So with this figure that you mentioned,
01:40how many high-value targets are already in jail, and how many drug dens have been cleared?
01:49Yes, ma'am.
01:50High-value targets arrested is 7,364 and we have dismantled...
01:59Well, in terms of drug dens, ma'am, there are a lot of them because they are already floating in the barangays, at 1,181.
02:07So this is part of our efforts that is in accordance with the so-called barangay drug clearing program, ma'am.
02:18Okay.
02:19How much has been increased or decreased in the mentioned figures of drug-related charges compared to the previous years?
02:32Sir, I will repeat the question.
02:35Sir? Director Carrion?
02:39Well, ma'am, unfortunately, I do not have the final... Yes, hello?
02:45Go ahead, sir.
02:46Yes, hello?
02:47Go ahead, Director.
02:48Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am.
02:51Hello?
02:52Yes, Director.
02:54We were asking how big the difference is.
02:58Yes, ma'am. I don't have the final figure of the previous years, but definitely, ma'am...
03:07Well, we would like to think that there is a steady increase in the total volume and value of drugs confiscated, ma'am.
03:15But as regards to the barangay drug clearing program, definitely, ma'am, our improvement is big because as of today, we only have a total of 6,292 barangays.
03:26That are regarded as drug-affected.
03:28So this represents a very good number compared to the remaining... I mean to the total number of barangays nationwide.
03:37And the total drug-cleared barangays being 29,211.
03:42This means that our initial estimate back then that there are a lot of drug-affected barangays, the decrease is still continuous.
03:50So this is a good indicator, it's a good yardstick to determine the success of the national anti-drug campaign, ma'am.
03:58Okay. What are the places where there are drug dens or barangays that are affected?
04:09Director?
04:13Director Carreon?
04:15Well, usually, ma'am, these are located, well, here in the national... Yes, ma'am. Hello?
04:21Go ahead, sir. Located here?
04:23Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. Hello, ma'am?
04:26Yes, sir.
04:27Hello, ma'am?
04:28Director Carreon? We can hear you.
04:31Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am.
04:34Usually, ma'am, the severely affected barangays... Yes, ma'am. Hello?
04:40Yes, ma'am. Hello? Yes, ma'am.
04:42The severely affected barangays are located usually in the centers of gravity.
04:47So we're talking about the national capital region and the super regions, ma'am, like the regions of Calabarzon and Region 3,
04:55and in some areas in Mindanao, ma'am, particularly where we have challenges in terms of the internal security and threat groups.
05:04Okay. Director, how do we make sure that our operations are effective?
05:12And how do we make sure that the reports we receive are accurate?
05:25Director?
05:27Well, ma'am, our operations are always conducted in tandem with other law enforcement and government agencies.
05:35Yes, ma'am. Hello?
05:37Yes, sir. Please continue, sir.
05:41Hello, ma'am?
05:42Director Carreon?
05:47Director Carreon? Yes.
05:49Yes, ma'am. Ma'am, all anti-drug operations...
05:53Yes, ma'am. Hello?
05:56Hello?
05:57Go ahead, Director. Yes, ma'am. Hello?
06:04Go ahead, sir.
06:05Hello?
06:08Yes, ma'am.
06:09Ma'am, as directed by Director General Mauro Virgilio Lazo, all anti-drug operations...
06:14All operations are conducted by PGEA in tandem with other law enforcement agencies,
06:20particularly the Philippine National Police, the National Bureau of Investigation,
06:24and also supported by the armed forces of the Philippines,
06:27especially in areas where there are other threat groups that will require the support of the armed forces or the military,
06:34especially, ma'am, in areas like in Central Mindanao or in the Zambasulta Peninsula.
06:41So for all our operations, we make sure that we are always in tandem with other government agencies
06:47so that there is transparency in the conduct of our anti-drug operations.
06:53In that way, all agencies help each other, including the local government unit,
06:59and with the support of the community in the conduct of all these anti-drug operations.
07:04All right. Thank you very much for your time, Director Derek Carrion of PGEA, Chief PIO.
