00:00Liverpool continued their fine start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in what was arguably their toughest test of the season so far.
00:07Goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones cancelled out a Nicholas Jackson equaliser to see Liverpool stay top of the Premier League table after Manchester City also won very late and Arsenal dropped points, losing to Bournemouth for the first time this season.
00:23Liverpool remained one point clear of City at the top of the table and they showed that it was a very professional win against a good Chelsea side who gave Liverpool plenty of problems early on and honestly I would be very happy with the way that his side passed that test of what is a big game ahead of a very tough schedule ahead.
00:42Chelsea were very good and much improved from last season's 4-1 defeat at Anfield under Maurizio Pochettino.
00:48Liverpool had eight shots which was their lowest at Anfield since 2021 which showed how Chelsea have improved since last season and how well they defended overall and stopped Liverpool from attacking as much as they usually do.
01:01They conceded 28 shots last year so it was a huge increase and it's clear that Chelsea are much improved.
01:07They also had the most touches in Liverpool's box at Anfield from any side in one half of football across the last four and a half years so Chelsea found ways to get through Liverpool's midfield and into their defence and it was a very tough game for Liverpool.
01:21They came through and they came through thanks to strong performances from the likes of Curtis Jones who starred with what was probably a man-of-the-match performance.
01:30Coming in place of Alexis McAllister who was not fit after the international break, Jones was brilliant, absolutely sensational.
01:39Coming in in that left midfielder role just ahead of Ryan Gravenberch and a change of style from Jürgen Klopp who on his start has definitely benefited.
01:48He's a very technically gifted midfielder who thrives in this system where he's allowed to have the ball more often, run with the ball, drive from deep, get into the box as opposed to Klopp who uses a much more pressing type system.
02:03It was a huge boost for him and after being on the periphery a little bit this season he's announced himself in the biggest way possible with that man-of-the-match performance.
02:11Not only was Curtis Jones sensational, Mohamed Salah continued his great form in big games and we know he's a big game player and he proved it once again as he managed to go past 60 goal contributions against the top six sides across his time in England so far.
02:27Only Alan Shearer has managed that feat which shows he's an esteemed company and he also had a couple more records that were broken on the day as well.
02:35He became the first player in Premier League history to score a goal and provide an assist in 10 different games against big six sides.
02:43He now has the second most games with a goal and assist in Premier League history with 34.
02:49Wayne Rooney is the only player above him with 35 and of course he played in the Premier League for far longer which shows just how clinical Salah has been over that time.
02:58With that contract situation hanging over his head it's very difficult to not push him forward and secure him for a deal because he has been so key to their success across the years.
03:09Yesterday was just another prime example of how they really struggled to replace him and his influence.
03:15The fact that he does score goals and assists in these big games is something that people just take for granted because we've got used to the quality and the consistency that he's shown over the years.
03:25He is an absolutely sensational footballer for Liverpool and he'll be eyeing more records for sure if he can remain at the club.
