00:00My name's Robert from Blackpool. I am 70 years old. I've lived in Blackpool now for nigh on 30 years.
00:09Right. What's been your favourite thing throughout that time of living in Blackpool?
00:15I would say just the excitement of the place. I come from a little village in Scotland called Narbo, which was nice, lovely in fact, but very quiet.
00:25When I first arrived here I was overwhelmed by the amount of things that were available to do.
00:33Between the pubs, the clubs, the nightclubs, the green spaces, Stanley Park here for example. It's unbelievable the beauty we've got.
00:44My name's Geoffrey Park and I'm 66.
00:48How long have you lived in Blackpool?
00:5255 years.
00:55How have you found it during those 55 years?
00:58It has altered these last 20, 15, 20 years. It's really sort of deteriorated.
01:07Right, really. In what ways would you say?
01:09The buildings, the people, just in general.
01:15What would you say, what kind of people has caused it to deteriorate then?
01:19Well, I think there's too many, there's too much begging and goes on. I don't know why we can't hone them all to be honest.
01:29Sorry, could you repeat that please?
01:32I think there's too much begging and too many beggars on the streets. I think we should be able to do something better for them.
01:38As in, find a way to support them?
01:41Yeah.
01:42As a council and stuff like that.
01:43How old are you?
01:44I'm Steve McEvoy and I'm 66. I've lived in Blackpool all of my life, apart from the first three months.
01:54Could you just hold the microphone just a little bit higher?
01:58And it's been an interesting 66 years I've been in Blackpool.
02:04So you've lived here for 66 years. What's been your favourite two places just from now and historically when you've lived here?
02:17Historically, growing up, the best place was the promenade on Pleasure Beach as a child.
02:23Great place to go, free to get into. A fun place which has gone to the dogs basically since in the last 10-15 years.
02:33Now you can't go on without paying. Nobody goes, it's a great shame.
02:38The town in general has gone down because the shops have all closed and there's nowhere to shop in of any quality really.
02:47There's no people that can afford the prices of the quality shops.
02:51So it's just a sense of reason I suppose, you can't afford the expensive shops.
02:57The town, like the country, has gone a bit downhill so it's unfortunate but that's the way the country's going.
