A performance of the Okazaki gomangoku, an Aichi min'yō, with lyrics. 愛知県民謡の岡崎五万石の演奏と歌詞、簡単な説明です。
--
Meaning of the lyrics:
Okazaki is a small domain with a rice yield of 50,000 koku, but it has a proper dock in front of the castle.
As you sail up the Yahagi River, you can see the magnificent castle through the reed beds and pine trees.

Description:
Okazaki gomangoku is a song in the hauta style, and its origins are subject to various theories. It may have originated from songs that came from either Edo (Tokyo) or Nagoya. The song began to be widely sung during the Taishō period (1912–1926). The Okazaki Domain, being the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu, was a prestigious domain despite its small rice yield. The current main keep of Okazaki Castle is a reconstructed one. The shamisen player in this practice recording is the video editor's sister, Junko.
