00:00Oh, well, for the second time in grab bag history, we have a guest.
00:04It is Patriots offensive lineman Mike Unwenu on a Patriots Friday.
00:07He's brought to you by Shaw's and Star Market, perfecting the art of fresh.
00:11Mike Unwenu, welcome to the grab bag.
00:15What's up, what's up, what's up?
00:16Hey, we're doing well.
00:18We were just talking to your offensive coordinator, Alex Van Pelt.
00:23Some of the questions about Gerard Mayo calling out the team this week,
00:26calling them soft.
00:27Do you agree you're a soft team?
00:31Um, no, I don't think he was calling us soft in terms of,
00:35um, in terms of like just in general, like us being a soft.
00:38I think he was saying our style of play and what he's used to us
00:43putting on film.
00:44I would say the last few weeks we haven't been putting good tape out
00:47and just in terms of our physicality, speaking for myself and Olon.
00:51What was the response by the team?
00:53Is that something you guys talked about?
00:55Did you address it or is everybody just moving on?
00:58Yeah, I mean, obviously you addressed it, you know,
01:01it's just being said, um, you know, we all, we all talked about it,
01:04I guess, you know, when we first came back after the game,
01:07but, um, you know, everybody took that as a challenge, you know,
01:10took it to have a better week of practice and then have that translate to the game.
01:14Was it something that he said postgame to you guys in the locker room
01:18or did you hear about it from the postgame press conference?
01:22Like when, when all of us heard about it?
01:25Um, in terms of the words, I was, I would just say, you know,
01:29we heard about it when everyone else, but in terms of the message after the game,
01:34I mean, obviously we were disappointed.
01:35It was a game that we, that we lost and we didn't play that well.
01:39So just in general, obviously it's a loss.
01:42So there's nothing else that can come from it.
01:44Bill Belichick disagreed for what it's worth with you guys being a soft team.
01:48He said he hurt for some of the players specifically on defense, hurt for them.
01:53Uh, what'd you think of those comments?
01:56I mean, you know, Bill was here, so, I mean, obviously everyone has an opinion,
02:01but I'm sure the way Neal said it wasn't in terms to be directed
02:05or to be a negative towards us.
02:07It was more of a challenge for us to play better and play more physical.
02:11How's it been for you on the field?
02:13It's a different combination every single week on the offensive line.
02:17I mean, we'll wait until, you probably already know,
02:19but it feels like it's going to be an eighth different starting lineup
02:22for you guys up front.
02:24What have the challenges been with just different, you know,
02:27rotations each and every week?
02:30Um, I would just say your general, your general stuff with guys,
02:34more really just communication and really just playing next to the person
02:39or whoever the new person is just playing them and stepping in and playing.
02:44But at the end of the day, it's football and speaking for Olin,
02:47I mean, we all run the same place.
02:48We're running the same place.
02:49So we all know the assignments of each offensive lineman.
02:54Michael, my new Patriots offensive lineman joining us here,
02:56Jones and Keefe, Patriots Friday.
02:58It's the grab bag.
02:59You referenced the team meeting earlier.
03:01You said you guys addressed some of those comments in the team meeting.
03:04Who spoke and what was the message of that team meeting?
03:11Mayo spoke, you know, he obviously touched on the comments
03:14and said what he meant by it.
03:17So what I said before in terms of him not calling us directly soft
03:21in terms of him challenging us to have a better game
03:24and to play more physical is exactly the message that he spoke
03:27and how we took them, how we approached this week.
03:30The timing of the meeting was interesting.
03:32Mayo has referenced now some comments from Kendrick Bourne
03:36that players need to kind of focus on recovery and focus on the right things
03:41and not staying out late, things of this nature.
03:44Were any players disciplined or did any players get in trouble in London?
03:52No, nobody got in trouble in London.
03:54So when Kendrick Bourne is talking about players staying out late
03:58and, you know, sticking to their routine and being professional,
04:00what do you think he's referencing?
04:04You know, obviously, I'm sure whoever he's talking about,
04:07that's who he's talking about.
04:08It's not to my awareness, but, you know,
04:12obviously, we're in a different setting.
04:14And over the last couple of weeks with the international games,
04:18there has been players getting in trouble or stuff.
04:21So I think that was a big message.
04:23So I don't think anyone got in too much trouble.
04:27Too much.
04:28Last time you guys faced the Jets, allowed seven sacks as a team.
04:32What kind of challenges do these guys present?
04:34Plus, it looks like they're going to get Hasan Redik,
04:36who wasn't there for the first matchup.
04:39Yeah, I mean, it's from the first game, the same challenges.
04:43Have a lot of good players on our roster.
04:44So obviously, it's just a matchup and playing and showing up for the game.
04:48All right, three Halloween-related questions for you here,
04:51Mike, before we let you go.
04:53One, do you have a favorite Halloween candy?
04:59I would probably say somewhere in between gummy bears and like a Twix.
05:04Gummy bears and a Twix?
05:05Wow.
05:05Nice.
05:06What's in between?
05:06Oh, the top.
05:07I see.
05:07I see.
05:08I see.
05:08You know, your Alex Van Pelt said candy corn.
05:11Any thoughts on that?
05:13Candy corn?
05:13I don't know.
05:14I'm going to have to talk to him about that.
05:16I think so.
05:17Yeah.
05:18Do you have a favorite Halloween costume growing up?
05:21Or maybe even as an adult at a party.
05:23But any costume that you really liked?
05:28I don't have a favorite.
05:29I would say the one that stuck out to me was, I remember being like
05:32elementary, and I was a saw, or not saw, I was screened for Halloween and I had
05:38the mask, I had the bullet.
05:39That's like Keith's favorite movie.
05:40That really, now you're speaking my language.
05:42I actually got to piggyback into my last one for you.
05:45Do you have a favorite horror movie of all time?
05:50To be honest, I really don't.
05:52Okay.
05:52I've just been watching more horror movies and thriller movies of recent,
05:56really this whole month.
05:58So I don't have a favorite, but I do have a favorite.
06:01I don't have a favorite, but I can get back to you on that one.
06:03All right.
06:04Well, Mike, let me tell you, just for the month of October, right around
06:08this time, every day on this program, Keith gives out for free a horror
06:12movie recommendation.
06:13So if you're looking for them, it's a good spot to tune in.
06:15We do it every day.
06:15A lot of good ones out there.
06:18Today's going to be Shutter Island.
06:19Shutter Island.
06:20It's kind of more of a mind-messing movie.
06:23Leonardo DiCaprio, 2010.
06:24But I recommend Shutter Island.
06:27Okay.
06:28I'm going to have to watch that.
06:29I think the last movie I watched, I can't remember the movie's name, but
06:33it was a movie, a family that went on a vacation.
06:38They were trapped on an island.
06:41I can't remember.
06:41I thought it was Vegas, Vegas.
06:44They went to an island on vacation.
06:46Yep.
06:47Yeah, they were trapped on an island.
06:48They went to a resort and then they, it was a beach on the island that
06:52they went to, and then they were basically stuck on the beach.
06:55They couldn't leave because it was like a magnetic force surrounding
07:00the beach.
07:00So they basically like, they got older faster.
07:04So they basically were aging.
07:06Yeah, that's the M. Night Shyamalan movie, right?
07:08I think it's just called Old.
07:09Yeah.
07:11It's something.
07:14Yeah.
07:15Okay.
07:16Very good.
07:16All right.
07:16We'll have to check that.
07:17You check, you check out Shutter Island.
07:18We'll check out the vacation movie.
07:21Yeah.
07:22I will for sure.
07:23I'm going to get that to you, the name.
07:24All right.
07:25That sounds good.
07:25Mike and Wynton, we appreciate it.
07:26We'll talk to you soon.
07:27Good luck.
07:30Okay.
07:31I think it's called Old.
07:31I've actually never seen it.
07:32M. Night Shyamalan movie.
07:33Nick, have you seen this one?
07:35I have not, but we both said Old at the exact same time.
07:37So I think it's called Old.
07:38Twitch chat also confirms Old.
07:40Yeah.
07:40I'm like, you're thinking of the TV show Lost.
07:42No.
07:42You're thinking of From.
