00:00Because of the magnitude of the landslide, Batangas is now in a state of calamity.

00:07Various agencies of the government took action to address the needs of the affected people.

00:14Mike Rogas of Radyo Pilipinas has news for you.

00:20I am now here in the town of Laurel, in the province of Batangas.

00:24Behind me, you can see the magnitude of the landslides caused by Hurricane Christine last week.

00:34The people of Laurel, Batangas and other affected towns are now trying to recover from the calamity.

00:44Our government is busy in carrying out road clearing operations through DPWH

00:53while the DSWD and other governments have already provided assistance to our people.

01:01The President of Batangas declared the state of calamity because of the magnitude of Hurricane Christine.

01:08This is to use the province's resources and provide immediate assistance to those affected by the calamity.

01:15The most affected are the towns of Talisay, Laurel, Agoncillo, Santa Teresita, Lemery and Cuenca.

01:22That is why government agencies such as DPWH and DSWD responded to Batangas to help with the road clearing operations and relief operations.

01:32Three groups of medical teams from the Provincial Health Office brought their mobile clinics

01:37to carry out health and environmental assessments in Lemery, Talisay and Calatagan evacuation centers.

01:43They carried out medical check-ups on seniors, pregnant women, children and infants

01:48and provided vitamins, medicine for those with symptoms, pregnancy kit, newborn kit such as diapers,

01:55and family kit such as blankets, diapers and toilet press.

01:59They also reminded people to avoid leptospirosis, dengue and food-borne and water-borne diseases.

02:06They also carried out psychological processing for evacuees

02:09who experienced severe floods and landslides through the help of Hental Health Advocates.

02:16They also provided financial assistance to those affected by the calamity.

02:21Meanwhile, the disaster team of the Batangas Government

02:25is one of the uniformed personnel and uniformed services

02:29in carrying out the search, rescue and retrieval, relief, medical and clearing operations.

02:35After the next few days, the road clearing operations of DPWH were carried out

02:41so that Laurel, Agoncillo and Batangas can pass.

02:46Even though it is true that there was a landslide,

02:50the government is working hard to restore the road to the other side of the country.
