00:00Opening a day dedicated to the wind energy that was held this morning at the Marina Convention Center, the Eolik Offshore represents an opportunity for occupation, development and jobs, explains Luca Lupi, Secretary General of the Port Authority of Western Sicily.
00:22We believe that the Sicilian ports can play a fundamental role, because the Eolik Offshore is not only a way to diversify the national energy mix, it is not only an objective to reach European and global targets, but also an opportunity to create development, jobs and occupations.
00:45Therefore, the ports, in synergy with the Sicilian region, can certainly make an essential contribution, together with the private sector, to create new opportunities, aim for the energy transition and bring development into the production and logistics sectors.
00:58For Alex Picco, Sicily is at the center of the Mediterranean.
01:03Well, certainly some Sicilian ports have important characteristics.
01:07Not least, the fact of having available spaces.
01:11The offshore industry requires a lot of space, as you can understand.
01:16Assembling very large turbines, wind turbines, takes a lot of space.
01:22Logistically, then, it has a central position.
01:26The wind parks in the Mediterranean are located a bit everywhere.
01:29Sicily is at the center of the Mediterranean.
01:32Logistically, and in terms of associated costs, bringing wind turbines into the sea is an objectively privileged position.
01:41The Sicilian industrial system can add value in the next decades, says Getano Vecchio, President of Confindustria Sicilia.
01:50First of all, we are talking about offshore wind.
01:52We are not talking about an opportunity, but we are talking about certainty.
01:55The Sicilian canal is probably the point in the world where this technology will have the highest yield.
02:00And Sicily is a natural platform.
02:02We are not talking about an opportunity, but a necessity.
02:04Because, as you can see from today, the entire international offshore industry is here.
02:12So it shows that Palermo is attractive.
02:14The first agreement was signed in Italy, as explained by Mauro Migliavacca.
02:19Norway is a global organization.
02:22We have offices all over the world, in all the countries that Norway considers interesting from a commercial point of view.
02:29In other countries, we have already signed such agreements.
02:33In Italy, it is the first time.
02:34With these two agreements, we would like to create a more effective and concrete collaboration
02:42between the Norwegian supply chain and the Italian industrial world, linked to offshore wind.
02:50The two associations cover the entire market.
02:54For equity, we have decided to sign both.
02:59Being able to sign this agreement with both associations
03:03makes us more positive in the hope that something will be realized sooner.
03:10I think that by being together, we can be sure that there is a common will to carry on this project.
