00:00The agencies of the government joined forces to reduce starvation and reduce poverty in the country.
00:07This is Clayzel Pardilla of PTV for Balitang Pambansa.
00:13No Filipino should go to bed hungry.
00:16And that no community will be overlooked in our fight against poverty.
00:20That is the aspiration and direction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:25In order to do that, the Joint Memorandum Circular, the campaign against starvation and poverty, was strengthened today.
00:33Under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty,
00:37the more than 30 agencies of the government and international organizations,
00:42including the Department of Agriculture, Agrarian Reform and Social Welfare and Development,
00:49it was established that each Filipino should have sufficient and substantial food and reduce poverty in their communities.
00:56Back in 2016, it united community-based organizations,
01:01such as groups of farmers and fishermen,
01:05in government feeding centers and looked for markets to sell their products.
01:11Through this, we can improve farm productivity,
01:15take farmers, fisherfolk, other food producers to larger markets,
01:19provide secure income, ensuring that our children, our mothers,
01:23our most vulnerable have access to nutritious food.
01:27Because of the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty,
01:31the community-based organizations have lost more than Php 200 million.
01:37President Marcos will also strengthen the capacity of farmers and fishermen
01:43by providing credit, loans and insurance.
01:48The establishment of facilities for farming, such as irrigation,
01:52and the use of a digital mapping system,
01:55is part of the commitment of Zero Hunger or Walang Magugutom na Pilipino.
02:00This year, we directed all government agencies
02:03and encouraged all local government units to support its implementation
02:07to bolster our efforts towards zero hunger,
02:10food and nutrition security, and sustainable agriculture.
02:14According to a survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations,
02:1737% of Filipinos said that their quality of life improved in the third quarter of 2024
02:25compared to the previous year, at the same time.
02:2824% said that it disappeared.
02:3238% said that there was no change.
02:36The study was conducted from September 14 to 23,
02:40which included 1,500 respondents from all over the country.
