MADI, 23, lives day-to-day as a self-certified 'Vampire Goth'. She has dressed in alternative clothing since her early teens, when she first discovered goths on YouTube and started wearing metal band t-shirts and experimenting with eye makeup. But it wasn't until she graduated high school that she was ready to "morph into [her] truest form." Now, she has developed a striking look drawing on not just vampires and goth subculture but also "hints of Victorian." Madi told Transformed: "I take a lot of inspiration from Count Orlok, Nosferatu - when I think of vampires I think of rosaries, frilly shirts, paleness. And then with '90s Goth' I love wearing big platforms, big eyeliner, big lashes, big bat's nest hair." Madi's husband Jake - a goth himself - gave her the push she needed to express herself fully in everyday life, however she has received judgement and even threatening behaviour from passers-by when out walking around her "conservative small town." Madi said: "I've had people take pictures of me, people would call me a 'freak'. There were also a couple of guys that followed me when I was leaving a store to probably scare me." So today, with the help of makeup artist Kaleb, Madi is transforming into a 'Sparkly Blonde Barbie' to see if this might be the look that would enable her to go out in public without feeling the constant stares. Not only that, she's planning to reveal the new look to best friend Victoria, mother-in-law Monica, as well as husband Jake - on the same day that Madi, Jake and Victoria are due to go out to their local 'Goth Night' together! Will Madi really go to Goth Night dressed in shimmering pink? Will Jake and Victoria even let her? Or will they all just want their favourite 'Vampire Goth' back?

00:00I describe myself as a vampire goth.
00:03I get judged a lot for the way that I dress.
00:06Big platforms, big bat's nest hair, veils, corsets.
00:10I've had people take pictures of me.
00:14People call me a freak.
00:15And I want to see if it's any different when I turn into a Barbie.
00:18Today I'm transforming from vampire goth to sparkly blonde Barbie
00:21and I'll be revealing my look to my husband, my best friend, and my mother-in-law.
00:25Oh. My. God.
00:28My husband and my best friend are goths as well.
00:31And I know that they're going to completely hate it.
00:33Especially because we're going to goth night tonight.
00:35Well, do you like it?
00:38Are you wearing that to goth night?
00:45Hi. Nice to meet you.
00:47Nice to meet you.
00:49My name's Maddie and I describe myself as vampire goth
00:54mixed in with a little bit of 90's and hints of Victorian.
00:57I take a lot of inspiration from Count Orlok, Nosferatu.
01:02When I think of vampires, I think of rosaries, frilly shirts, paleness.
01:07And then with 90's goth, I like wearing big platforms.
01:12Big eyeliner, big lashes, big bat's nest hair, veils, corsets.
01:20These are my prized possessions.
01:22They are my 10 inch heels.
01:24I just wear them around the house.
01:26Here is some of my decor.
01:28Some bone art that I've made.
01:30I just went bone hunting and found all of those things in the woods.
01:35How did your style develop?
01:37It started when I was probably about 12.
01:39I would see a lot of goths online.
01:41So I knew about the fashion.
01:44I just would wear metal t-shirts and stuff like that.
01:47And then I didn't really have the confidence until I graduated high school
01:51to really express myself.
01:53I felt like I had a chance to be myself and morph into my truest form.
01:58Today I'm transforming from vampire goth to sparkly blonde Barbie.
02:02And I'll be revealing my look to my husband, my best friend, and my mother-in-law.
02:05And I know that they're going to completely hate it.
02:07Are you curious to know what your mother-in-law?
02:11Yep. Yeah. I think she's going to hate it.
02:14Really?
02:15Yeah. Yeah.
02:17She's definitely going to have an adverse reaction.
02:20I can see it.
02:23Yeah.
02:26My husband and best friend are both goths too.
02:28I met my husband Jake in one of our friend's garages.
02:31They were having a party and we just started hanging out.
02:35He definitely has inspired me and given me a lot of confidence
02:39to really shine in my style.
02:42I think that he wouldn't want it any other way.
02:44He is very happy that I can express myself fully now.
02:50So I'm using a Colourpop No Filter Primer.
02:54We're going to do a lot of contour and light blush.
03:00Nothing too deep.
03:02You're really going to be able to see her face for what it is.
03:07A glowy outcome.
03:09I get judged for my style a lot,
03:11especially living in such a conservative small town.
03:15I've had people take pictures of me.
03:19There was also a couple of guys from around here that followed me
03:24when I was leaving a store.
03:26Just followed me to probably scare me.
03:28People will call me a ffff.
03:30A ffff.
03:32A freak.
03:34Really just whatever comes to their mind.
03:37I want to see if it's any different when I turn into a Barbie.
03:45I'm using a brow palette by Benefit.
03:48That's awesome.
03:50And I used a brow pen from Anastasia.
03:56I like to create my own strokes.
03:59What do you picture when you say Barbie?
04:01I picture a long blonde wig, stiletto heels,
04:06and a pink dress and hot pink nails.
04:09I've just never done a Barbie look before,
04:11and I've always kind of wanted to see what I would look like.
04:14I'm excited for the drastic change.
04:21I've used Dermablend before on tattoos,
04:24and you don't have to use the corrector,
04:27but the one on your leg where there's a lot of pigment,
04:31that's when I would use color corrector.
04:34Yeah, that looks great.
04:36I still think the corrector would be awesome.
04:39I bought it for you, so I might as well just use it.
04:43This has, like, a 16-hour lifespan.
04:46Oh, my gosh.
04:48Yeah, so definitely scrub when you're in the shower.
04:52Let's see.
04:54Yeah, I'm going to, once this dries,
04:56I'm going to put a lighter, just a little bit of a lighter layer on it.
05:01I'm not sure how I will feel when I see myself.
05:04I feel like I'm going to hate it.
05:08Or I might love it. I don't know.
05:14I am nervous to try a different wig,
05:18especially without piercings to save me a little bit.
05:21I have no idea how this is going to turn out.
05:30Hey, are you ready for the big reveal?
05:33Yes.
05:34Are you ready?
05:35Yes.
05:361, 2, 3.
05:39Oh, my God.
05:42My God.
05:52I don't like the dress.
05:54The makeup's really good.
05:57And I like the nails.
05:59I like the wig a lot, a lot more than I thought.
06:02Would you feel comfortable going outside the house like this?
06:07Um...
06:12I don't know.
06:14I don't know, because I feel like I kind of look like a suburban housewife.
06:21How do you feel about showing this to your loved ones?
06:26I honestly don't know what they're going to think at this point.
06:30They're probably all going to hate it, honestly.
06:33Especially because we're going to goth night tonight.
06:35Her everyday style, it's like an art form to me.
06:39Every day, she looks like a work of art.
06:41What do you think about the idea of her doing something completely different?
06:45I'm excited. It's going to be different.
06:47I've never seen her not goth, so...
06:57Well?
07:01Yeah.
07:02Do you like it? Do you hate it?
07:04I hate the blonde wig.
07:05You hate it?
07:06I like it on you.
07:07I know, I kind of like the blonde wig.
07:08I like the blonde on you.
07:09Yeah, I do.
07:10I kind of feel like Hannah Montana.
07:13You look like 18-year-old Maddie in the face.
07:16Yeah.
07:17You look good.
07:18And the shoes are...
07:20Those are shoes.
07:22They are shoes?
07:23It's just not you.
07:24Oh, your tattoos are gone.
07:26Oh, I didn't even notice that.
07:28That is so weird.
07:29I know.
07:30Yeah, it is.
07:31I know.
07:34I hate the square shoes.
07:38You hate the square shoes?
07:39Yeah.
07:40I do.
07:41You're so cute.
07:42Well, thanks.
07:43Is that what you're wearing to goth night?
07:45I guess so.
07:47It'll be interesting for sure.
07:49I don't think anybody's going to recognize me.
07:52It does look like a costume.
07:55Everyone's reactions were as I expected.
07:57I kind of expected Jake's to be a little worse.
08:01He liked it more than I thought he would.
08:03It's definitely cute, but it's not me.
08:07And I miss my piercings.
08:10Did you learn anything from this?
08:12That I shouldn't dress like this.
08:19I don't really think I can wear that to goth night.
08:22I'm done.
08:24I'm getting changed.
08:33Bye.
08:34Bye.
08:35Bye.
