00:00Some congressmen called on former President Rodrigo Duterte to honor his commitment to attend the upcoming hearing of the House Quad Committee, just as he did with the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
00:13Last month, the Quad Com invited the former president to attend, but his camp said he was not feeling well, so he would appear at the next hearing instead.
00:22The 10th public hearing of the Quad Com is scheduled for Thursday, and the joint panel has already sent an invitation to former President Duterte.
00:31According to House Assistant Majority Leader Zia-Alonto Adchong, Duterte may no longer be in active government service, but he should still be bound by the unspoken code to leave up to one's word of honor.
00:43Meanwhile, for House Assistant Majority Leader Paulo Ortega, he believes Duterte's legal team might be pursuing a less-talk-less-mistakes strategy, so they likely advise him to skip the Quad Com hearing.
00:54Just recently, Duterte appeared in a separate Senate hearing on the War on Illegal Drugs, where he took full responsibility for all the outcomes and fallout of the program.
01:04In a speech, House Speaker Martin Romualdez emphasized the House will not waver in pursuing truth and justice regarding the illegal drugs war, especially given his absolute belief he and his colleagues in the House are on the right path.
01:34Because we are slowly seeing the light and the truth, we hope that our institutions will be strengthened, but we will not give up. We will not allow the time of darkness and injustice to return.
01:52To prevent the killing of more innocent people in the illegal drugs war, the House of Representatives is now pushing a new proposal called the Kian Bill.
02:06This is House Bill No. 11004, filed by Akbayan Rep. Percival Sindanya, advocating for a human rights-based approach or a more humane and orderly solution to combat illegal drugs.
02:18It was named the Kian Bill in memory of Kian de los Santos, the teenager who died during Duterte's War on Illegal Drugs.
