00:00The production value of agriculture decreased due to the recent calamities and the effects of the African Swine Fever this year.

00:16The production value of agriculture decreased due to the recent bad weather and the effects of the African Swine Fever in the third quarter of the year.

00:26According to the Department of Agriculture, the production value of agriculture decreased year-on-year by 3.7%

00:31which is equivalent to P397.43 billion pesos.

00:34The fishing sector is also affected due to the recent floods

00:38where the production value of agriculture decreased by 5.5%

00:42which is equivalent to P55.48 billion pesos year-on-year

00:46according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.

00:49Undeniably, the combined effects of El Niño and La Niña

00:54is what caused the decline in the production of rice

00:59which is a major contributor.

01:02We know that rice is a major contributor to the crop sector

01:05so more than half of the value of agricultural and fisheries

01:11is due to the decline in the production of rice.

01:16DA's spokesperson, Assistant Secretary Arnel Demesa,

01:21continues to work with farmers and fishermen

01:24to help them recover from the rising crisis and calamity

01:27as well as to reduce losses for the last quarter of the year.

01:31We will continue to give interventions to the affected farmers and fishermen

01:37so that they can recover

01:39just like we will give rice and fertilizers

01:44so that they can plant again and recover our farming sector.

01:50We will also provide protection for them

01:54when it comes to calamities such as insurance.

01:57Meanwhile, according to Demesa,

01:59the expansion of the P29 and Rice for All program of the government

02:03is also in full swing

02:05through the expansion of Kadiwa Centers

02:08as ordered by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

02:11The President wants to expand the benefits of P29 and Rice for All

02:18by expanding the number of Kadiwa Centers.

02:24that the provincial governments will also join our program.
