00:00It is no longer new for the hope of following the entry of typhoons into the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next month.
00:08Meanwhile, the number of typhoons left behind has increased to more than Php 10 billion.
00:14Ryan Resigues is live at the center of the news.
00:17The Department of Agriculture has issued an urgent help to the farmers affected by the next typhoon entry into the country.
00:31According to the latest report of the DIA, more than Php 10 billion was left behind by the typhoon Christine and typhoon Marse.
00:39The damage left by the typhoon Nika is not included in this report.
00:46Meanwhile, the hope of following the entry of typhoons into the country within the next month has increased to more than Php 10 billion.
00:56It is not yet half of the month of November, but four typhoons have entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility,
01:05and all of them hit the country's land.
01:08These include the typhoon Leon, typhoon Marse, and typhoon Nika, and the upcoming typhoon Ophel.
01:15The question is, is this normal?
01:18According to the DIA, it is not unusual for the next typhoons to enter the country within the next month.
01:24In a forum held by Quezon City Journalist Incorporated,
01:28Annalisa Solis, the Chief of Climate Monitoring and Prediction of the DIA, said
01:33that this happened in 1951, where seven typhoons hit the country in the same month.
01:40Six typhoons entered the country in the same month, in 1948.
01:46Solis' guess is that the country is now experiencing a La Niña-like condition, where the probability of rain from typhoons is increasing.
01:55The next typhoons we see are embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone.
02:03This means that our ITC set is very active.
02:08Usually, these are the breeding places of tropical cyclones.
02:12Since the ITC set is very active, each low-pressure system of the ITC set develops into a tropical cyclone.
02:21The Department of Agriculture is also involved in helping affected farmers.
02:25According to their data, more than P10 billion were left by additional typhoons.
02:31Particularly, the Typhoon Christine and Typhoon Marse.
02:34From the estimated value, almost 60%, or equivalent to this, from the planted rice, reached P6 billion.
02:43The Commodity Banner Programs of the Department of Agriculture
02:47The Department of Agriculture has buffer seeds in every region.
02:51So, that is the main thing we are mobilizing so that we could provide immediate support.
02:56But, as to when it is cleared and they would really assess the extent of the damage,
03:03we are also accepting proposals for rehabilitations that we are entering under the Quick Response Fund.
03:11Now, we will talk about the typhoons that will enter the country.
03:16According to the forecast, it is possible that there will be 2 to 3 typhoons that will enter the country by the end of the year.
03:25Including those outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility that could be typhoons and typhoon Pipito.
03:33The Department of Agriculture said that the production of rice could be affected.
03:39The production of rice here in the country could be affected because of the typhoons and the extent of the rice planted.
03:45That is why they are hoping that the import of rice in the country could increase.
03:52But, they are the ones who are crying.
03:55And now, the seeds that the farmers need that are affected by the typhoons are prepositioned.
04:01The Department of Agriculture also talked about the increase of cropping season in the country
04:07so that it would not be affected by the typhoons or the last quarter of the year.
04:14Thank you very much, Ryan Lesigas.
