00:00If jobs, jobs, jobs is the cure-all pill to the country's economic woes,
00:05this piece of legislation may be the dash of sweetener to help the medicine go down.
00:10Earlier today, the president led the ceremonial signing of Republic Act 12063
00:15or the Enterprise Basin Education Training Framework in Malacañang,
00:19with members of the Senate, House, and Cabinet on hand to witness the historic enactment.
00:25The EVET law seeks to re-skill, up-skill, or train Filipinos in vocational courses
00:30or professional trades to be more capable of the demands and work standards of international employers
00:36and earn better pay.
00:38This educational immersion or continuing professional development aims to get Filipino workers
00:43up to speed with new and evolving technologies and also meet professional requirements for employment.
00:49And the newly enacted law fits into the government's policy of regulating and consolidating
00:54enterprise-based training under a single framework.
00:58Senate President Francis Chief Escudero said it best that the country's labor market cannot remain idle
01:04or stagnant because of a rapidly changing global labor market.
01:09This law directly addresses the issues of the lack of formal training and skilled mispatches,
01:15ensuring that every Filipino can contribute and benefit from our nation's growth.
01:22We wanted to create jobs that are sustainable and that gives decency and integrity to our would-be workers.
