00:03Derbyshire County Council's Cabinet has agreed to introduce a raft of cutbacks and money-saving changes in four key areas
00:10involving care home closures, cuts to learning disability services, community group funding and tighter criteria for home support eligibility.
00:18The Conservative-led Council agreed to approve the redesign of elderly care services,
00:23with the closure of eight care homes and five day centres for the elderly,
00:27under refreshed proposals after studying the reaction to public reaction from over 1,700 respondents in a consultation.
00:35Following further consultation, the Council's Cabinet also approved to discontinue four day opportunity centres
00:41and four short-break residential units for adults with learning difficulties or autism,
00:45and to withdraw discretionary funding for 50 voluntary and community groups.
00:50They also agreed to introduce tighter eligibility criteria for its Derbyshire Healthy Homes project service.
00:56A spokesperson for the Derbyshire group said,
00:59Poor government settlements, inflation, along with soaring post-Covid demand for social care, particularly in older people's care at home,
01:06a growth in working-age adults requiring social care, as well as in children's social care provision and special needs,
01:12has left councils throughout the country needing to reassess almost everything they do.
01:19A new banking hub has been proposed for a Derbyshire town, in premises formerly occupied by a bank.
01:25Planning applications have been submitted to Bolsover District Council,
01:29seeking permission for new shop frontage, air conditioning and signage at 102-104 Market Street in Shirebrook.
01:36The building was occupied by Lloyds Bank until May this year, when the branch closed down after reaching the end of its lease.
01:42The proposal, by Cash Access UK Ltd, is to alter the ground floor of the building to create a banking hub.
01:48The first and second floor will be part of the hub, but unoccupied.
01:51Existing ATM machines will be removed and windows installed.
01:55Cash Access UK Ltd is a not-for-profit company set up by banks and building societies
02:00to enable customers to withdraw cash, make deposits and access basic banking services.
