Police in Queensland have launched a murder investigation into the death of a man in Mackay 10 days ago.

00:0067-year-old John Patrick Hackett was found at his Gold Street unit in Mackay on the 9th
00:08of November following a welfare check by family members.
00:12Police say they have since received additional information, including results from a post-mortem
00:19examination which indicates evidence of an assault.

00:27He was a man who followed routine and he'd followed that routine up until the 5th of

00:41Mr Hackett has been described as a much-loved member of the community who volunteered at
00:47the Salvation Army and the local soccer club.
00:50His family today fronted the media pleading for answers.
