00:00The globally beloved manga, anime, and video game franchise Dragon Ball is now officially kicking off its 40th anniversary
00:07just months after creator Akira Toriyama's death.
00:10The original Dragon Ball manga was first serialized on November 20, 1984
00:15featuring a boy named Son Goku who collects magical balls containing a dragon to help protect the Earth.
00:22Since then, the comic book has been sold over more than 260 million times in Japan and worldwide.
00:28The manga series was turned into an anime also titled Dragon Ball from 1986 dubbed in different languages.
