00:00I am grateful to Merck for this recognition and I would like to point out that as a director I represent an institute, but obviously there is a group behind this idea.
00:16This originates from the well-known problem of silent symptoms.
00:23Unfortunately, this is a disease that is ingrained in our daily lives in a sudden way.
00:31At the beginning we can't realize, the patients can't realize the fact that these symptoms and difficulties arise.
00:41So the idea that came to us is simple. First of all, to have a diagnostic tool based on everyday life that allows the patient, without too much boredom, to provide useful data to the therapist, to the doctor.
00:56The idea is simple. It originates from the cell phone. This is an object that is now deeply and intimately connected to our personal life.
01:05Often we demonize it even in the younger generations.
01:09As always, we researchers try to take advantage of the opportunity, not the problem.
01:15The opportunity is simple. Instead of using dedicated apps that bore the patient,
01:21from the daily interaction with the apps already born in the cell phone, sending an SMS, WhatsApp, writing messages,
01:32the patient, who has these silent symptoms, obviously experiences difficulties.
01:38Small hiccups, delays, difficulty in digesting.
01:42The artificial intelligence inside the cell phone realizes this difficulty and provides useful support to the doctor.
01:54So, as always, in our actions of technology, innovation and medicine, the patient is in the first place and then the doctor next to him.
02:03Technology at the service of man.
