Significant snow will gradually clear this afternoon from the southwest, but wintry showers and gusty winds will continue to affect exposed coasts into this evening. This will particularly affect Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, and northwest England. Plenty of sunshine away from these areas, while in the south some cloudy conditions. A very cold day across the country, leading into another frosty and chilly night with wintry conditions continuing. A yellow snow warning is in effect for the southwest until this afternoon. Yellow snow warnings for snow and ice are also in effect for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, northwest England and the Midlands. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 21/11/24. 00:00Hello, good afternoon. Well, even though we're still in autumn, it certainly felt like winter
00:05this week with plenty of snow and ice in the forecast, not just for northern areas either.
00:11This morning we've had some snow flurries skirt their way across the southwest as this
00:14area of low pressure slowly sweeps its way towards Europe, bringing some snow across
00:19parts of Devon and Cornwall, where we do have a snow warning issued until early this afternoon.
00:25That's eventually going to clear its way across the south later into this afternoon, but still
00:29plenty of snow showers skirting exposed coasts for northern and northwestern parts of Scotland,
00:34around coasts of Northern Ireland, North West England and Northern Wales too, with plenty
00:39of snow and ice warnings issued from the Met Office, so do stay up to date on our website
00:43for those. Away from the snow showers though, there's plenty of autumnal sunshine. You're
00:48going to have to wrap up warm to enjoy it though. Highs only reaching around 5 degrees
00:52today, so it is going to be another chilly and cold day to come.
00:58As we head into this evening, still those snow and ice warnings issued, and still plenty
01:02of those snow showers feeding into northwestern coasts, particularly across England, Wales,
01:07parts of Scotland too. So still some snow showers on offer as we head into this evening,
01:12and under clear skies it's going to be turning cold with a sharp frost and still some snow
01:17mainly around high ground, but also could see some snow flurries to lower levels too.
01:21So another cold night on offer, with some frost and some icy stretches expected by the
01:26time we reach tomorrow morning. As for Friday, those snow and ice warnings are still issued,
01:32and we still have a chance of some snow showers fleeting around some exposed coasts, mainly
01:37in northwestern areas, parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwestern parts of Northern
01:41England and Northern Wales too. But once again, away from those snow showers, there still
01:45should be plenty of that autumnal sunshine. Once again, it is still going to be feeling
01:49chilly. Highs generally around 5 degrees, slightly higher in the southwest. Now as we
01:56head into the weekend, we are still expecting another unsettled spell of weather. There
02:00is still a risk of snow on the cards, also some heavy rain and some strong winds, and
02:05there are already warnings in force as we head into the weekend. So don't forget to
02:09stay updated on our website, and of course you can stay updated on our social media channels
02:14so that you never miss an update. Bye for now.
