00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met. As we head
00:04through the rest of this weekend it's going to remain very windy for some of
00:07us and for all it's going to be feeling very cold. It's all courtesy of this area
00:11low pressure which is bringing in some very cold air from the north. But as we
00:16head towards the Christmas period we will see a change, winds start to come in
00:19from the southwest. High pressure also building as we head towards Christmas
00:24Day. So for most of us at the moment it does look like it's going to be fairly
00:27settled although we could continue to see the risk of some weather fronts
00:31across the very far northwest of Scotland. Back to the here and now and
00:35for the rest of Saturday afternoon we continue risk of some rain across the
00:39very far south of the country. This rain bad only slowly clears towards the
00:43continent but for most of us here's a mixture of some sunshine but also many
00:48blustery showers especially across the northern half of the UK where they start
00:52to turn increasingly to sleet and snow especially across the high ground of
00:55Scotland. Wind warnings also in force it's going to be a windy day especially
00:59across the northern half of the UK and actually wind warnings are out for all
01:04of the weekend so if you do have any travel plans over the next few days do
01:08stay up to date with the latest warnings on our website. Temperatures in the north
01:13generally only around five to six degrees but factoring that wind it's
01:17going to be feeling remarkably colder than that but down towards the south we
01:21well just hang on to double figures for the time being. So into the evening that
01:27rain band across the south will finally clear away and for most of us it's a
01:31mixture of clear spells and a scattering of showers. The most frequent showers will
01:34be across the north where again there'll be a wintry nature even across parts of
01:39Northern Ireland, Northern England and maybe the far north of Wales. So that may
01:43well lead to a few icy stretches around but thanks to the wind I think most of
01:48the towns and cities staying above freezing but as I mentioned that wind
01:52will be very strong especially across Scotland we will see the risk of some
01:56gales or potentially severe gales in places. So as we start Sunday morning we
02:01will see some sunshine especially down towards East Anglia and the southeastern
02:05parts of England but for most it's again it's a mixture of some bright spells and
02:09a scattering of showers. Most of the showers are focused across Scotland,
02:14Northern Ireland and the far north of England where again they will be falling
02:18as sleet and snow in places. Best of the brightness come the afternoon maybe
02:24along the south coast of England and it's here where we'll probably see the
02:27driest of the weather come the afternoon but for most of us it's going to be an
02:31afternoon to wrap up warmly. These are the temperatures on the thermometer but
02:34factoring the strength of the wind feeling much colder than this. Then as we
02:39head towards the all-important Christmas travel period at the moment does look
02:43like the weather should start to settle down for most of us. As I mentioned there
02:47could still be some wet weather across the far northwest of Scotland but for
02:51most it's going to be a fairly cloudy but milder lead up towards the Christmas
02:55period and for Christmas Day itself at the moment it does look like the chances
02:59of seeing a white Christmas anywhere across the UK is very unlikely indeed.
03:04But if you want more information about the weather as we move towards Christmas
03:08in your area you can always check out our app or look up our website but for
03:12me for now take care and I'll see you again soon.
