Robert Kraft reportedly won't get in the NFL Hall of Fame this year. Should he get in? Why isn't he?
Transcript
00:00Five separate sources have told ESPN that Robert Kraft, for the 13th year,
00:06has been overlooked and passed by to be considered into the Hall of Fame,
00:13for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. At 83, Robert Kraft clearly deserves to be in it.
00:19We all agree, right?
00:21Hell yeah.
00:21Yes.
00:22The fact that it's been 13 years and over and over again,
00:26he has chosen different ways in which to try to impress the committee, I think,
00:30whether it's the Dynasty documentary that really blew up in his face,
00:34whether it was how he handled the Bill Belichick situation, whether it is, you know,
00:39all the different things that he did off the field to help in the community,
00:42which I think should be looked at more by the committee.
00:47The fact that Robert Kraft is not in the Hall of Fame and is once again being passed over
00:52to be inducted into the Hall of Fame is a travesty. It is terrible for the Krafts,
00:59but it also may be what needed to happen for Robert Kraft to look himself in the mirror and say,
01:04maybe I need to take the foot off the gas a bit.
01:06Maybe I don't need to go so hard at a coach that was here for over 20 years and did so much for us.
01:14Maybe I need to not just put all the blame on somebody else
01:18and actually think of it as like, we all did this together.
01:22I do think that that may have turned off a lot of people. I think Dynasty
01:25may have turned off a lot of people. Okay. Can I, can I get a jump in there?
01:29It is an absolutely stupid by the NFL. He shouldn't have to do anything,
01:34turn that off. I know what you're saying, Courtney, he shouldn't have to do.
01:38The man has an organization that has won six championships, been to eight Super Bowls.
01:45He helped end the strike, um, back in 2011, I believe it was somewhere along those lines.
01:53His franchise has been one of the best franchises and not just all the sports,
01:58but in the NFL, when it comes to success, the fact that he's not in the Hall of Fame,
02:02he shouldn't have to, um, take his foot off the gas. He shouldn't have to do none of that.
02:08It shouldn't be what he does off the field and all of those things that clearly is though,
02:13because the, those people are morons. That's what it is. You're not going to change their
02:19opinions. The problem is they should not have, if you can't put a guy like this in the Hall of Fame,
02:25you should not have the right to vote for the Hall of Fame. I get, they get this guy, Ralph,
02:30Hey, whatever the hell his name is. The guy's been dead for like 70 years. Okay. He was,
02:35you know, uh, one of the four founders of the NFL. What's the difference of waiting an extra year
02:41to put him in where Robert's still alive. I think oftentimes, because there are so many people that
02:50are up for consideration, you don't get it until you have, uh, you know, shuffled loose this mortal
02:57coil. Some people, some people end up never getting that honor while they're alive.
03:02He should get the honor while he's alive. He should be given his flowers and be able to hear
03:06the nice things that people say about him. But I'm saying, I think he's maybe gone overboard,
03:11trying to impress people and trying to put any type of stink that the Patriots may have had on
03:16them. Do you think it's spy gate or deflate gate? I think this latest one is the dynasty
03:22documentary. I don't think that there's a single voter outside of Boston that gives two poops about
03:27the dynasty documentary. I'm with you on that. I disagree. I disagree because I think if they can
03:33look at it as if this was our franchise and the owner did what he just did in the documentary,
03:38whether or not, you know, it was his choice to make the dynasty documentary, what it was,
03:42or if it was the people that were producing and directing, who knows?
03:45Courtney people, uh, outside of new England didn't even really watch the dynasty. That is not true.
03:52Yeah. We, we, we, we, that is not true. We will meet. Well, I was meeting people. I think I was
03:57down, um, when we were down in spring training or whatever, and I was talking, I was doing some
04:02interview with an Atlanta station and you guys were like getting the thing. They were like,
04:07yeah, we haven't even watched the documentary. Everybody I've talked to outside of Boston is
04:10like, damn, your owner really came at your old head coach pretty hard. By the way,
04:15by the way, full week, nearly a full week of shows in Fort Myers this year for us for spring
04:23training. Cause the Red Sox are all in, they're all in on Blake Snell and all in on Juan Soto.
04:29I agree. But just on this, it's a nine member committee. It's not like writ large media. I,
04:35I cannot fathom that they would say, well, you were trashing a guy, you know, after you left
04:42in order to get to that point, you have to accept that he won six champions.
04:46So then what's the reason in your mind? Because he wants it too badly. And people in the NFL
04:51get too frustrated that somebody is dictating their decision.
04:54That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm saying he's going too hard. He's going over the top
04:58when it comes to certain things, but that is stupid. Those people, those nine people should
05:02not have the right to vote. You vote. We agree because he should be in you vote based on what
05:07the man has done with his organization, this whole off the field stuff. And he's got to be this and
05:12that. I mean, the guy's a model citizen. Let's, let's be honest. He helps out a ton of people.
05:16Oh, I bet a lot of owners do that. It should be what he's been able to accomplish with his
05:23organization. What his franchise just winning Superbowl. That's it. And winning in the success
05:28of Ralph may or Hey, whatever the hell his name from, you know, what is your issue with Ralph
05:36mayor? Hey, I'm with Wiggy. I saw that name. I was like, F off. Who is he? He is, I'll tell you,
05:41he helped found bulldogs back in 19. Oh yeah. Has he been to the waterfall?
05:49He's a co-founder of the league. It was like one of the forefathers,
05:52but the guy's been dead since 1944. I agree. I do believe also Greg and it pains me to bring
05:58this guy up as you know, but the quarterback winning immediately in Tampa also I think
06:05is harmful because he acted like he was totally blameless. I tried to escape any culpability of
06:12that entire thing and discussed the Patriot way for two decades. And then the guy goes to Tampa,
06:18the armpit of America and wins, wins right away. It shouldn't matter though. I mean,
06:22how many players is Jerry Jones ran out of Dallas? No, if you're going to judge people on that,
06:26then there's no way Jerry Jones should be in the hall of fame because of what he did to
06:29Jimmy Johnson. You're a thousand percent right. But he did win the next year with, with Switzer.
06:33Right. But he, a texter says he is Robert craft has done nothing without Brady or Belichick.
06:39Right. That's who's won championships without a great coach and quarterback.
06:43And guess what? If Robert craft doesn't hire bill, then you get no Brady. And so it,
06:50it was his decision to go with bill Belichick, who ultimately turns out to be the greatest coach
06:55then is one who drafts Tom and Tom turns into the greatest quarterback of all time. So it is
07:00that he stood not only that wigs, but the super bowl, you won that crafts binky was bled. So
07:08he had just made him the highest paid player in the history of the NFL.
07:11And he allowed bill Belichick to make the best coaching decision in my life
07:16and go with Tom overdrew after the AFC championship.
07:20I that's why I, I sw, I wish all hall of fames would get rid of anybody who has any
07:26like morals on what people should be doing off the field. I'm dead ass morals. No, because you
07:32should know it. Shouldn't I agree with you? Like what happened? Although then you have the argument
07:37when it comes to OJ Simpson, like should OJ Simpson be in Canton? He is. Yeah. He should
07:42be. Pete Rose should be in the major league baseball hall of fame. What like he's he served
07:47his time. Pete Rose, maybe you don't want to put them in right away, but you got to the point where
07:51like, all right, this guy served this time. OJ Simpson did all the, who the hell knows what
07:55some of these guys that are in the hall of fame from back in the nineties and thirties and forties
07:59and fifties, the guy you mentioned, you don't, you have no idea who, no, I just look at what
08:05they did in their respective sport on that field or as an owner of that franchise or as a
08:12contributor to that sport. Think about how many contributors are out there that might just be
08:16writers or play by play. Why don't they have this on TV or online to stream? Like, shouldn't they
08:23be transparent about why they're voting? No. Yeah. And why their vote, like what it is.
08:28It would make great content if they were talking about it and telling you why they were voting yes
08:32or no. All right. So Robert Kraft passed over again when it comes to the pro football hall.
