Do you think Jerod Mayo will be HC of the Patriots next season? Should he be?

00:00the simple thing that we're discussing, which is away from the field, right, which is just speaking
00:04with the media. Do you think that when he's in front of the players he never makes mistakes,
00:10or do you think this is sort of who he is, he says things in the moment because he's an
00:15excitable guy who wants people to do well, and then we'll have others clean it up after?
00:20I think the latter.
00:21Because it would be very odd for someone in the context with us and with the regular media
00:28to have as many just missteps as he has had and then not have that during his day job.
00:35I appreciate him trying to clean up the Alex Van Pelt thing yesterday on the show and elsewhere,
00:44but it doesn't change what happened. I mean, his first inclination was to throw his offensive
00:53coordinator under the bus and to blame the way the offense ran and that loss essentially on him.
01:01So that doesn't bode well for an organization when that's the guy who's in charge,
01:07and I hate saying it because he's a very nice man, very, very nice man.
01:10That's, you said it, I didn't.
01:12He's great, but wouldn't you say that it's only a matter of time before Jonathan fully
01:16takes over from Robert? I think that if they move on from Gerard Mayo this season,
01:21then that is a clear indication that Jonathan now is the leading guy.
01:26Like, I think if Robert is staying in charge, there's no way that he is letting go of Gerard
01:30Mayo because it makes him look bad. But if Jonathan is stepping in and Robert's taking a
01:35back seat, that's when you're going to see a change. Right. I think you could assume that
01:39the two of them may have differed when it came to the decision to install Gerard Mayo without any
01:47interview process of anybody else long before he had, apparently five years ago, before he had
01:54really done any coaching. Right. And so I think that maybe the two of them had disagreed from
01:59the start on that. So maybe that gives Jonathan the leverage if and when that decision has to be.
