00:00For the first time ever, the Philippines sent a delegation to compete in the prestigious F1 in Schools World Finals
00:09that was held from November 21 to 28 in Daran, Saudi Arabia.
00:15It was led by science, technology, engineering, and mathematics or STEM students from the British School Manila
00:22led by Gatlabayan Gian-Andre Benjamin, Gaisano Angala, Lauli Kai, Sofia Margaret Gorospe, Aaron Gabriel Chua, and Tara Bahuk-Kandi.
00:34The name of their group is called Aguilas and the inspiration is the Aguila or the Philippine Eagle.
00:41And the word Baguilas symbolizes their strong determination towards success.
00:48F1 in Schools is a worldwide educational program that aims to raise awareness in their STEM courses using the Formula 1 line
00:58where design and manufacture of miniature air-powered F1 cars using engineering softwares is included in the competition.
01:07Aside from the competition, the group also has a goal to promote STEM education in the Philippines
01:13and help the next generation to join F1 in Schools.
